Bangkok to Koh Larn Day Trip

One of the nice things about living next to Victory Monument is that within 5 minutes you can be on a minibus to pretty much anywhere around BKK.

So yesterday we went for a day trip from Bangkok to Koh Larn.

We were up and out the door at 9am, and straight onto the minibus to Pattaya – 140b each.

We were only planning to go to Pattaya, but the minivan dropped us right outside the pier at 11.30, and right inside were the ferry tickets to Koh Larn at 30b. Why not we thought.

Unfortunately the 30b ferry was at 11.00 and 13.00 so we walked further in and there was a 12.00 one for 150b each return. Which went to a different (extremely slightly more exclusive) beach than the common 30b ferry.

Arrived before 1pm, slinked into the beach chairs and got the beer in.

Nice place to relax, with overpriced food and beer. Kai Jao omelet and somtam were 100b each! I went for the 100b French fried and 150b fried chicken, the GF went for the 100b khao pat talay (fried rice with seafood). Add 3 large singhs at 120b a pop, bucket of ice and a couple of cokes at the bill was around 950b.

80% of the clientele were Russians aged 20-40, and throw in a few Japanese tourists.

Must be lovely there after the last ferry goes back in the early evening. Heard they have a few resorts beginning at around 1200 p/n.

Nice ferry ride back to Pattaya at 5pm.

A stroll down walking st. to be ended with the daily argument.

Then back to the pier to catch the minibus back Victory monument at 7pm.

    Back home just after 9.

Nice day out, especially from life in the city. Cost was just under 1,000b each.

You most likely went to Samae Beach but they normally leave at 11am and 1pm, the 20 or 30baht ferry is at midday.

Not much. Just the 3 minutes per day we spend in a huff.

Usually after sentences like 'up to you'.
