Chanthaburi / Trat / Rayong holiday info needed

Hi Everyone, chasing some help please.

This Christmas my family (wife and a 3 and 2 year old) are driving to the coast and meeting up with another family (husband, wife and a 8, 6 and 1 year old)

We aren't picky as to the exact area where we stay apart from it being in Chanthaburi, Trat or Rayong, however we are not interested in staying anywhere close to Pattaya.

What we do require however is......

Accommodation on the beach. It either has to be right on the beach or at the most a easy walk of no more then 150 metres.

The Beach needs to be clean and safe to swim

The hotel/resort/bungalows etc needs to have a separate bedroom.

A kid friendly hotel/resort/bungalows would be a bonus. A place with a pool or playground etc.

Walking distance to Thai Food (fresh seafood is a bonus!)

Budget: Haven't talked with the other family yet but at a guess I would think up to 3,000 baht a night would be the go - happy to pay more for the right place though.

That's about all I can think of at the moment, I look forward to your replies.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

    Memock,
had a great time start of the year and stayed in Ban Phe near Rayong. Hotel was called Best Beach Hotel with pool, breakfast was ok, and beach is 25m from the front of hotel...recommended

Chao Lao Beach is a good option, we take our 4 kids there. The water is shallow and safe plus reasoably clean for Thailand. Tons of resorts and bungalows on the beach only about 1000 - 1200 baht/night room with air, some have hot shower too. The food is fantastic and there is no bar scene whatsoever. Its a family place Thais like to go to. I don't know the nameof the resort we stay at but except Thai holidays you can always find occupancy. The only negative about the place is there tends to be alot of mosquitos at night so bring repelant.

BTW you can also take a short drive across the new bridge to go to the dolphin show at Oasis Sea World, it is a very scenic area and much cleaner than Rayong.

For the most honest and reliable taxi driver in Bangkok plz call Mr. Weerasat (Wee) 089-238-1918. He has an Izuz SUV and has been our neighbor and family friend for over 10 years.

I bookmarked the web page for a place called Cinnamon Art Resort in Trat that looks very nice and is right on the beach. Have not had a chance to try it yet, but I intend to the next time I get a break from work. Plenty of info on their website.

Looks nice fore sure but no mention of separate bedrooms plus it is pretty pricey.

G'day there Nephew, long time no email huh. Thought you would crawl out from behind the sofa as soon as you smelt a free holiday! Sorry but no can do as all the resorts to the east on Bangkok have a strict no American policy.

we're now going after Songkran, spending a fortnight in Sa Kaeo first i have to finish painting the house there; actually looking to move to Chanthaburi/Trat area for minimum 6mths so part of the holiday I'll be scouting for suitable rental accomm. Found some recommendations on places to stay, things to do from other threads here, just need to make a decision and book.
    Will post some pics . . .

It was Nawty but if you read back I wrote that it was cancelled and that we are now hoping to do it in the next 2 months so your suggestions are really welcome. Will check them out now.

At Koh Kham...highly recommended as said...but lodging is a tad rugged and pricey....but it is the only place on the island and kinda nice little isolation place....specially when the generator goes off at 11ish
