| Nice thing about staying this side is you get to keep your car. the other thing is... 3 years ago I came about a girl on Ko Samet that had been pissing about with a boy. He had picked her up and dropped her, dislocating her shoulder. He was now nowhere to be seen, and her friends as well. She was in agony! I took a quick look and realise her shoulder was out so I went to the police station and another farang went to the medical centre to get help. I wondered around the police station for 20 mins shouting "sawadee kap" but no one appeared. I went back to the girl and was met by the other farang, who also had no luck. I then went to a bar where I know the owner and he arranged a speed boat at 3 am. The boat operator was told to wait for the ambulance in Ban Phe, also arranged by the bar owner. I met her again 4PM 2 days later, all strapped up. The guy had approached her on the beach out of nowhere and picked her up a sort of "hello darlin" and being pissed dropped her. She walking behind had not been seen dropped by her friends and when they got where they were oing noticed her missing. etc...... No help on Ko Samet, may be now. Not then. |

Continuing east, around the corner from the Marriott is Wang Khaew resort, a huge park-like complex, with bungalows and houses for rent. Quite scenic, with hills, bays & beaches, it is quite often used as filming location by Thai soaps. Growing accomodations options in the area, which has seen a construction boom in recent years. More of a family/relaxation scene than the banana pancake vibe you find on Ko Samet. To each his own. | |
