    Under Water World, Pattaya

I thought i'd put up a little thread about this place as i went with JBird and the hooligan a couple of weeks ago, apologies for the picture quality but i'm a crap photogropher!
If anyone else has been and wants to add to it feel free!

This is the entance i forgot how much it cost but JBird told me it was 700baht for the two of us and the hooligan went free because he fitted under the barrier

looking through before we go in,

then we get to some fish, starfish

    and a sharky looking thing,

this picture might be better? well no, not really but it's all you get

Hooligan impressed by some comets, Koi?

    few more

    Hello...

That's all for now, i thought that was it and got a bit pissed off but then we saw the tunnel things you walk through.
I have quite a few photos but have to find the good ones, being crap at picture taking and having thick concave and convex glass to deal with makes it even worse.
Well, luckily I didn't have any tortoises on me at the time...

Gotta spread the love before I green you Jizzy. Great photos BTW, have you considered a career change? Joking, joking, good thread, more fish pics please.

The striped fish are Sergeant Major Damselfish, or perhaps a variety of them.

The sharks are Black Tip Reef Sharks.

The sharky looking things are maybe Greater Spotted Dogfish.

And the other one is a species of Tang fish, also known as Surgeon Fish because they have a surgeon sharp blade near their caudal fin which can whip out when they need to. This is a similar species of Tang, but there are so many varieties I couldn't say exactly what the one pictured is.

Really marine fish are not my strong point.

However I can 100% confirm the hooligan likes Koi, you should take him to Buadhai's for a visit, he has loads of them.

Sir, may I respectively point out to your pedanticness that the greater spotted dogfish is also known as the bull Huss, or nursehound Scyliorhinus stellaris.Rock salmon is derived from this fish also from the Spurdog which is another member of the family.

Now if you don't mind I am going to sit in the corner and sulk, might stick pins in this effigy I got. Who the bloody hell has nicked me hat and coat.

^^ (Brazen) Hussy & Chips is more in my line ....

Nice photo of the Crayfish in the middle of all those others.

Normally the only time you can get that close to them is when they arrive at the table ....

^Yep, Under water world charges more for white and black people than it does for Thais, I think it was 400baht but must be more now for farangs.

Just checked the price for London Zoo, just over 800baht, London Zoo takes a day or 2 to see it all, Underwater world probably half hour should suffice.

    Same here in Spain.
Tourist pay more for all sort of stuff including domestic flights and the difference is a lot!
Be in town on Wednesday, Graham at the buff says not many mongers there at moment.
    So even more choice. Excellent!!!
    Monger on dude.

Went there about 3 weeks ago. Price of 400 baht was a bit steep but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Loved seeing all the sharks and rays, specially without having to get wet or take care of a bunch of people who shouldn't be allowed in the shower unsupervised. Couple of empty displays and was surprised at the lack of some of the obvious critters like anemones, wrasse (esp. cleaner wrasse) etc. Fresh water doesn't interest me particularly and I blew right by most of those displays, but I was fascinated by the otter. 1 hour max.
You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.

Sukhumvit Road on the north bound carriage way. More or less half way between Soi Wat Boon and Thepprasit Road. Looks like a white circus "big top" with a gray plastic shark outside and a car park. Family enjoyed it but I have to agree with "good2bhappy", I thought it was a rip off also ....but go and visit before you decide.

Nice photos. The tunnel is very relaxing when there's nobody else innit.
