Besides Dirty Dog, anyone else been to Mae Phim?

After doing a search I find one small post by Dirty Dog re a visit to Mae Phim. All those living in the Pattaya/Jomtien area, don't you ever feel the need to do a bit of exploring beyond Soi 8? Surely there must be someone who has been down the coast to have a look at Mae Phim. I'll be back in Thailand in a couple of months and fully intend to visit there myself, but am interested in what others might have thought of the place.

I've only been there briefly. Nice, but I prefer Mae Ram Pheung in Rayong for the variety, and the beach near the Novotel for it's beauty.

How long ago were you in Mae Phim? I believe there are some nice condos being built there now. I'm thinking maybe get in on the ground floor and buy on the beach before it becomes too popular.

^ When the condo's were just about to be built. Beachside land in Rayong has rocketed the last few years. Not really the ground floor (check Chantanaburi or Trat for that) but I could think of much worse places.

Having a look at Logans website, it still seems you can buy a beachfront condo in Mae Phim for around A$130,000.

Yep, it's a nice area but it's exploding with construction projects.
Do a search on Phuphatara. There's another swedish development down the road that had a thai style beach front home for 40 million...and it sold.
