    Koh Samet, Rayong Province

I'm not sure if this has been done before. My apologies if its already done.

Koh Samet is one of the nice Islands, in Rayong province approximately 238 kms from Bangkok, which's worth a visit. It lies only 12kms offshore from Ban Phe in Rayong province in the Eastern seaboard. The island is easly accessable from Bangkok in less than three hours of travel (if you're driving your own car). The white sand beaches run along the eastern side of island. Beaches on the north-east of Island are beautiful and developed. As you move towards east the beaches are less developed, less congusted though no less beautiful. If you're a night-life lover then Koh Samet ain't probably a place for you as the bars and the other stores shut down by 11 pm.

The most popular pier in Samet Island is where usually the boat would drop off the visitors is in "Na Dan" which envolves into a small village called koh Samet Village. Though, there are also other available piers in the island such as the Vongdern and the Ao Prao Beach Resort. In Na Dan you'll find several pick-up trucks that are ready for transporting visitors to the diffrent beaches around. The cost varies as per distance but normally it doesn't exceed 200 Baht for a ride.

The closest beach from "Na Dan" is the Saikaew Beach which's about 10 minutes ride to the rocky road. There are quite alot of beautiful beaches around the island. It depends on your budget and of course the availability of the place.

    The map:

*A place where I always find peace*

I used to go there at least once a month when I lived in Bangna, always had a good time, except on the King's birthday when they closed all the bars and bolted the fridges.

There is a sausage shop on the walk from the main pier towards the beach. I think it's called 'the sausage factory'...Homemade sausages of various types.

    yes, i miss samet.

SametVille on Ao Wai is my favorite, very far south its the only resort there and very secluded and nice. The only problem is the restaurant is fair at best.

Girls like the one in his blogs should never be taken anywhere in public, just a fact.

I'd left off the 'in public' part; but, agreed.
