Go down the Soi where all the bars are in Ban Chang, turn left about 3km down there towards the mountain with the lasered Buddha image, left at the end and then first right so you are now actually on the road with the lasered Buddha image, if you goto the end you are at Sukhumvit near the Ambassador, or instead of taking that last left head right and follow that road towards Pattaya.
To answer your question, I'd say no, you won't necessarily get killed. I've driven that route dozens of times over the past 5 years with no problems, knock on wood.
A way down the road past Ban Chang, just past the military base and across from the Thai airways entrance there's a right turn - take that and you'll by-pass Sattahip.
DD's route sounds interesting as well, and probably a good option if you're not confident driving on Sukhumvit. But IMO the best way to gain confidence is to just get on with it. Seems like the entire Eastern Seaboard is a giant construction site, but drive safe and it can be done.
well if you need to ask I guess it would be better for you to take a taxi I think
Road is terrible though
Be careful of the different levels of lanes.
I have been pushed up against a four inch high bit of tarmac with my wheels rubbing against it.
SCary stuff
Agree with spin, if you don't want to drive normal way by motorbike to Pattaya, so better take speed boat, should be more fun. Never driven motorbike to the country before but it should be great experience. Why don't you drive along to the beach, if no more way to go, look for speedboat then.
Ok, thanks for the help...how long should it take to get there?
Takes me 25 to 40 minutes in my car, don't suppose your willing to take your bike over the 100kmph so probably take a bit longer.
Rob. Don't want to put you off following DD's directions, but you actually have to go a fair bit further than 3 Kms before turning left, I would think its more like 8 Kms, the turning to the left (signposted for the 331) is just about on the the apex of a right hand bend in the road. The road that you go down is fairly twisty, and there is one particular bend with some quite nasty pot holes. Whe you eventually reach the 331, you need to turn left on to it, and road for Silverlake Vineyard and Buddha Mountain is about 150 metres on the right.
BCS's route is several Kms longer than the one that I would suggest, that is probably the easiest way for you, until you become acclimatised with the area, is to turn left coming out of Phayoon Road, onto the Sukhamvit (3), follow the road down about 3 Kms and turn right onto the 332 at the continually flashing traffic lights outside the entrance to the Thai International Maintenance unit. Follow along that road until you come to a set of traffic lights, turn right there onto the 332, signposted for Chachoengsao, and the turning for Buddha Mountain is about 3 Kms up on your left.
Thanks for the info....once I get the the Buddha is it easily marked to Pattaya...I have been to the Buddha a few times, but can't remember how to get there from Pattaya....I may have had a few too many Singha's LOL...anyways thanks again
I doubt you will get killed on the way to Pattaya but you will be in grave danger when you get there!
' Will I get killed if I try and motorbike from Bang Chang to Pattaya " ?
Yeah if your times up !
Hehehe maybe I can just find some hot woman in Ban Chang....but I doubt it...or is there an area in Ban Chang I haven't seen?
I have only been on the main drag and the Payoon Beach area....I have a house in Payoon Green...But I am in need of some playmates..
