I'm planning on going somewhere for a wk at the beginning of Jan - was going to go to Ko Pan ngan but not sure about the flooding - what's the deal with Ko Chang - is it worth a visit?
Koh Chang is nice, the only bad bit is the room prices, anything with air and hot water starts at 1,000baht per nite, anyway here are 5 pages of pics I took of Koh Chang

I've been there once and I have a plan to go back there again sometime next year.
gow maybe me you and ice maiden could have a trip there
Yeah! Why not!
I think we should warm-up first.. what about this Saturday at Jomtien?
Hold on, I just got to find the ban button thingy to get rid of marmers
Dog, it's about you, Ice and myself. Let's forget about another one please..

Ko chang looks good - are there any chepo guest houses there for the likes of me?
any decent bars etc.. and do you reckon it will be heaving with tourist bodies over the new year ??
the wooden shack i stayed in the first night, i think was 350baht per nite, but it was pretty awful.
do you get backpacker types there or is it more wealthy Thais etc..?
No idea, I only stayed in that dump one nite and then moved slightly more upmarket
it's all up to you, as there are all types of accomodation now
I really don't think you need hot water and aircon on the beach, waste of money. Unless you are a spoilt rotten sort of person!!
I stayed in a garden shed on stilts for a few weeks, shared bathroom etc
good fun and nice time
now they are catering for more upmarket types, like DD, and you can get windows with glass in them.
move on to other places me...
I have reported your post
Barali Resort and Spa.. damn expensive for me but who cares! I didn't pay for it.

also, one guest house which is not yet in the guides ' Oasis bungalows"(250 B a night) on Lonely Beach.
And for the bars, i heard about "Backsound" on Lonely beach. And all the other bars in this area are said to have a really nice atmosphere.
hmmm, you ask a question then, miraculously, you answer it yourself!!
amazing
Mind you, Koh Chang at this time of year could be bloody awful weather-wise. It can be really bad. A few years ago an acquaintance was on one of the smaller islands there for Xmas and the weather blew up. The boat could not reach them at all, and they were down to one egg each for food!
The Thai navy had to rescue them and take them to the mainland. Fun.
I think it is a bit bad at the moment in the Gulf of Thailand
Actually, I think the OP probably found the answer after the original post.
And is there any island in Thailand where the weather isn't temperamental?
