Hi guys,
whittler here, I am interested in the area of Rayong. I have read about Ban Chang, and others. Are these and other areas in Chon Buri ??
If not is ChonBuri on the beach ?
Sorry for my ignorance.

Chonburi is on the coast, about half way between bangkok and pattaya, and Rayong is about a 45 minute drive the other side of Pattaya.
Having just driven through Rayon several times in the last weeks, may I ask what interests you about this smelly and polluted area?
Chonburi and Rayong are adjoining Provinces, and the Provincial capital has the same name as the province. In both cases, I doubt the Provincial capital would be of much interest to an expat unless you are working there.
Chonburi has a quite large expat population, mainly around Pattaya/Jomtien and the hinterland.
Rayong has a much smaller expat population, although a growing number live around Ban Chang, especially near the beaches. Either side of Ban Phe port in Rayong you have a small cluster of expats near the MaeRamPheung and Suan Som (?) beaches.
A lot depends on how you want to live- if you like night life and restaurants, then you will likely to want to be around Pattaya. Ban Chang has a small nightlife area, and might be more your speed. The rest of Rayong is definitely for a quiet life, although there are still restaurants and bars to be found. Rent and house prices are less here also if budget comes into the equation.
Overly priced and soon overly populated by roudies.
Pattaya is in the Province (Changwat) of Chonburi, as is the city of Chonburi. The Province of Rayong is next door to that of Chonburi, to the South East. Ban Chang is just a little over 30 Kms from Pattaya and about 30 Kms from Rayong City. Ban Chang has some quite pleasant beaches just a few Kms off the Sukhomvit.
Thanks guys. I am interested in Mae Ramphung, Ban Phe, Ban Chang.
Can't wait to get back to check them out.
