    False Pregnancy

I think one of my dogs, Ninja, is having a false pregnancy. She's got a bit of milk lactating and her nips are bigger than normal and her body is really hot. Also she keeps stealing things like my socks and then sticking them in her basket and growling at the other dogs when they walk past.

I didn't find any useful information on google so I was just wondering if anyone here had experienced the same thing with any of their dogs?

Thanks in advance for any advise

You sure she hasn't been done through the gate?

Either which way, you should be congratulated on your choice of name for the mutt..

Yes, it does happen. We had two sisters in the dog center when we first took over. One was pregnant, the other not. The one who wasn't pregnant actually went through a whole phantom pregnancy. When her sister gave birth, her abdomen deflated, the milk dried up & she went back to normal.

You're absolutely sure she hasn't been caught out, though? Spaying would stop pregnancies, phantom or otherwise...

Very sure, she has only escaped once and she was within sight the whole time and Talung has already had his balls cut off so it can't be him.

I don't really want to have her spayed because after we had Talen spayed she went all grown up very quickly. Ninja is nearly 3 years old but still acts like a puppy stealing things around the house and pissing the wife off which gives me hours of amusement.
