My dogs died within hours as well, there was nothing I could do except watching them die slowly in front of me. I have no feelings for people who poison dogs, and I would gladly give them the same treatment as they give the dogs.

To teach a dog to only eat the food you give it is extremely difficult and involves constant supervision, most dog owners are never going to do it.

I have had no luck with just 1 dog, but is simple with 2 or more, as then you have something to work with to start, so the dog thinks, now just which dish can I eaqt ouit of without getting my ass ate out, and then just go from there.
I don't know how it would work with Thai dogs as they do not seem to be as civilized as other dogs, kind of like the people, ain't been out of the trees long and not to domesticated.
Easiest I have ever tried with was a Springer Spaniel that I had had since she was 28 days old and was with her a lot and a German wirehair pointer, but I raised both dogs and they paid attention to me when I spoke to them.
and I was the only one that was allowed to feed or work the dogs and they worked well together even tho one was a jump dog and the other was a pointer, and it is something to see when a springer honors a point.

Was it similar to this Hillbilly? a friends wife discovered that by putting gloves on their dog stopped it picking up food and eating it, so she says, the dog gets quite excited when she puts the gloves on it. I suppose it knows it will not be poisoned.

Thats true old bean. My two will ignore nice fresh chicken in their feeding bowl and eat ravenously any bit of rotting food they find outside on a walk.
They are often sick from that too!

It's a worry.........

A little off the subject of poisoning. But close. I had a terrible experience just 3 weeks ago today. Took my 10 year old pooch for her evening walk down to the river. Was sitting down watching the sun set when I noticed she was eating something. Tried to get it out of her mouth and then notice a fishing line coming from her throat. Yep, -- she dam well ate a fishing line with a baited hook on the end. It was well down and no chance of retrieving it. Though I did try with my fingers down her throat as far as I could reach.
Anyway, as I live in a remote town I had to fly her out to see a Vet. Luckily the hook snagged at the exit of her stomach and didn't enter the intestines, so they were able to retrieve it via endoscope. $1,300 later she is home and doing fine.

^^, I had about that same thing happen once.
I had a small motorhome that I used for work away from home and I fishing/hunting trips and something was wrong under the thing, I do not remember what but it is of no consequence anyway, but I was under it just behind the doorway/steps into it and a young dog I had was out fooling around and she jumped back into the vehicle and I saw a piece of mono line trailing, so I called her and she came to me and the line was coming out of her mouth, it was a baited hook with a worm on it, she always ate worms in the yard that came up after a rain, well lucky that the hook was just in her lip but you can not just pull a hook out, but another lucky thing was the hook was large enough to shove it on thru and cut the barb off and then slip it out..
The worst thing I have ever had happen to a dog, and it has happen more than once living on a ranch and in isolation as I have, is a dog that will fight and try to kill porcupines,, I did see some pics on the net awhile back of a pit bull that had tangled with one..But I do not remember where, if I can I will post em..

Herte ia a link of one, and I sure am glad my Bull Terrier didn't run across one when we lived in the woods at Chesaw Washington.

^ Porcupines and skunks. Bad news.
For poisoning, I used a load of salt or dry (hot) mustard on the back of the tongue to enduce vomiting. Then shovel 6-12 raw eggs down the kid's throat to bind the remaining poison so it isn't absorbed from the intestines. Then charcoal to neutralise it if you have any. I saved one pup -- shot into my bedroom vomiting and shitting and going crazy racing all over. That was the first time (always seems to happen at night when there's no vet open). The second time, I was out and didn't get her in time.
Gotta be careful tho, coz if the jerks put down a caustic poison (like drain cleaner) you don't want pup to throw that burn back up. Not much hope there.
