Gilbey's Gin and Vodka - Rip off !

I decant my Mekong into empty Gilbey,s bottles as they fit into the freezer better- (Drink Gilbey's on pension day !!)

They both cost 320 baht a bottle.
Recently I have found that a 750 ml bottle of Mekong will not fit into a Gilbey's bottle

Checking on old empties show that Gilbey's have reduced their bottle size from 750ml to 700ml but the price stays the same - sneaky bastards!
The Shop where I get it didn't know and will ask their distributor why they buy it from them at the same price !!
Will follow up when /if I get an answer !!

Happens all the time with me, imagine having over 50+ drinks and upto 500 food items to check over for price changes - they never tell you.

Thanks for the heads up on Gilbey's I didn't realise

My wife just bought me a bottle of Gibley's vodka and a 100 Pipers today. And yes the vodka is only 700ml, but the 1l bottle of 100 Pipers is still 1 litre.

as you are not drinking Gilbeys, then it hardly makes much difference

I hope you don't offer your guests that stuff in Gilbey guise!

anyway, 1 litre bottles are always better

The Gilbeys here is made under licence in the Phips, but it tastes the same. It costs quite a bit less than any other imported gins as it is from ASEAN

Gordons is OK, esp with Schweppes tonic

I was told that Mehkong is banned from Europe due to excessive lead content.
The joints of the copper piping in the brewery are joined with some kind of lead based solder.

Certainly explains the behaviour of people that drink it regularly.
Switch to Sang Som, they are both rums anyway.

Gibley's is cheap stuff anyways. Gin's good when you are watching your weight.

Its got to be Bombay Sapphire. Those bottles stack well in the freezer too.
