| » Report: Israel Preparing to Strike Iran Without U.S. Consent | |
Dec 05, 2008 - 5:18 PM - by Jesus Jones | Israel is drawing up plans to attack Iran's nuclear facilities and is prepared to launch a strike without backing from the U.S., an Israeli newspaper reported Thursday.
Officials in the Israeli Defense Ministry told The Jerusalem Post that while they prefer to act in consultation with the U.S., they are preparing plans that would allow them to act alone.
"It is always better to coordinate," a senior Defense Ministry official told the newspaper. "But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination."
It would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without permission from the U.S., as the American Air... [Read More]

Dec 05, 2008 - 5:17 PM - by dginoob |
Hi all,
I am going to Chiang Mai for the first time later in the Month. I have read through the "Chiang Mai Hotels Guesthouses Restaurants Pubs" thread (wouldn't allow me to post the link as my post count is <5) which is fantastic, big thank you to whoever compiled that. What I would like to know is what area to stay in when I am there, I would like somewhere that is quite close to the nightclubs and resturants. Any tips?
Thanks
Mark

Dec 05, 2008 - 2:08 PM - by LSNEED |
Reading everyday the news about governments' injustices against their own people and separation by class of people, I am researching the times when British rule was extensive. It is difficult to obtain information that can be understood since most is biased in some manner or another. At best comparsion of many sources offers the most accurate picture to answer the question.
Thanks in advance for discussing this.

Not sure if this should go here or in classifieds, so please move it if I'm wrong. I'll be in UK for 2 weeks at the end of January & need someone (or someones!) to housesit & look after my dogs. I had it all arranged with a UK vet student, but she's stopped answering my emails - so, I'm pretty sure that's off. Maybe she's worried about coming to Thailand at this time.
I live in a fair sized bungalow in Pranburi (2 bedrooms - 3 if you count my 'office', 3 bathrooms, kitchen & living area). Downside is I need someone very comfortable with dogs & fairly knowledgeable, as the dogs that need sitting are the paraplegic ones and some with socialisation problems. No... [Read More]

December 3, 2008
NEW DELHI, India -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called on Pakistan Wednesday to take responsibility for terrorists that are operating within its borders, terrorists India accuses of masterminding last week's attacks on Mumbai.
"We believe Pakistan has a central role to play in this, to make certain that these terrorists cannot continue to operate and operate in this fashion," Rice said at a joint news conference with her Indian counterpart in New Delhi.
While stressing that the investigation into who is behind last week's terrorist siege is still ongoing, she took issue with Pakistani President... [Read More]

Dec 03, 2008 - 8:58 PM - by dirtydog |
There are rumours going round that all entries on land borders to Thailand if you don't have a visa and are going for your normal 30 visa exempt stamp they are now only giving 15 days, as far as all the visa run companies in Pattaya go this is not true and they have heard nothing at all about it, a friend went on Monday and got his normal 30 day stamp, they also labelled it as his second one in the 180 day period as is per normal.
I have just spoken to another one of the companies this evening that do daily runs to Cambodia and they haven't heard of this either.

A famous stretch of Boyztown in South Pattaya was closed off on the evening of the 2nd December to make way for the spectacular Pattaya Gay Festival Street Party 2008.
By late evening the entire street was heaving with people enjoying the lavish entertainment and competitions all put on in great style by local bars, restaurants and hotels in the Pattayaland zone. Anyone know the cheapest and easiest way to build stone houses ??
Natural riverstone, not the cut flat one sided ones where you whack them on the outside like a tile.
Only for the exterior, dont want stone on the interior for gathering dust and varmits.
I would presume concrete structure and bricks of whichever type chosen for the walls and then just use the stones on the exterior cemented to the wall.

Since Bangkok Airport was closed from Tuesday evening, my flight to Phnom Penh being one of the last ones that flew out, I found myself stuck in Cambodia on Wednesday and needing to get back to Bangkok by Friday latest. I wasn't going to sit about in Cambo until they got things back to normal so I ended up taking a speedboat ferry to Siem Reap, private taxi to the border and then after crossing back into Thailand at Poipet, I took a bus to Bangkok. A 17 hour journey and a bit of a nightmare but hey ho.
Whilst in Phnom Penh I had a sniff around in the famous Sharky's. It's one of the busiest bars in Phnom Penh. ... [Read More]
