| Which brand of booze best says thank you to a thai? I had an English speaking University Vice President go out of his way to help change a policy that will greatly enhance my job. I want to buy him a nice bottle of booze. Do you have any ideas of brands that a Thai man is likely to really enjoy? Thanks! |

| he is an older, retired thai (not chinsese in thai) guy with a Phd from the usa. reasonably good english though he rarely uses it. the thing that impressed me is that i didnt ask him to get involved and he conflicted a bit with the university prez who was the source of the shitty policy. he also had nothing to gain except the western joy of seeing common sense prevail. though retired, he accepted this year long assignment (in a pretty isolated location) as a favour (and some $$ retirement incentive i am sure) to friend in the government. he is away from his family and i think he would appreciate both the gesture of the thank you as well as the contents of the bottle. |

| JW Black always appreciated but if you want to give him something special, Green Label would be a topper I'm sure. Makes your wallet look like it has been on a diet however! |

| Senior Member | I have drank a load of Black, Chivas, and most of the others, and the only difference is in the first sip, and even that is hard to tell the difference, but Black or Chevas is damn hard to beat as a gift, VSOP is cool if they do not like scotch,, Now I know that is hard to believe, but some folks don't like it. Comes in a novel bottle that is rounded at the bottom ![]() "Johnnie Walker Swing was invented in 1932 specifically for the trans-oceanic trade. The convex bottom causes it to rock back and forth along with the wave action on a ship. Because humans notice movement this caused it to become more popular at the bars on board." | |

not cheap but well worth it given that in thai terms he basically walked the plank for me. i have been cheated, ignored and dicked with so many times in this fucking country that when somebody goes out of their way to help me -- with no self-interested money angle and without being asked -- i want to kiss'em on the god damn mouth. thanks for the advice, boys. made me look like i knew what the fuck. ha! | |
