| Fat Tire is a damn fine, drinkable beer. The Best Beer, bar none, has got to be Tasmanian Devil Ale, from Buffalo Bills Brewery, Pub and Restaurant, Hayward California. Buffalo Bill's Brewery, Pub and Restaurant in Hayward, California Worth a thirty mile drive for a pastrami sandwich, a few pints and a couple half gallon Jugs to go. Best beer I have ever tasted.

All the draught beers in Thailand are keg beers which use gas to force the beer out of the tap. This alters the texture of the beer, either detrimentally (English Bitters) or as a big improvement (Guinness). I would say that Guinness is the best beer in Thailand, but only until Old Speckled Hen returns (soon, I've heard). I'm not a big fan or German beers (too gassy) or Belgian beers (too gassy & too strong) and lager is the beer equivalent of LeiBfraumilch.

| Lots of enjoyable and palatable posts here, cant seriously consider the cheap lgers, red horse, thing - sao, and cheers, all of which are trying to get a share of the market, they only taste good if your skint, their emphasis is on preservation, so its pumped full of formaldahide, which, is frowned upon, by the European quality laws. This is why, previous posts drew attention to the expense incured by maintaining a high standard of draught beer, here and in any tropical climate. In an aircon bar, you will acheive the best ,indeed, if you see any draught in an outside bar, forget it, and in my opinion, it is negligent, criminal even of any supplier to provide draught under said conditions. When a fresh keg of Guinness is connected/opened, it has a life of 5 days, then it rapidly deteriorates, the same can be said of, John Smiths, (5) Killkenny (6) Strongbow (7-10),although many of you will say, thats bollocks, it aint like that in the UK, sure, I know Guinness, and Cider, are both considered eternal by brewery stocktakers. That would therefore conclude, that all of the above are void of harmful additives,as required by European brewing standards.Hence the title of my post................draught beer is good for you, I know, I sell 25, 12, 5, 5, of the above per month, in Pattaya. I will not piss you off with a free plug, only if you ask me, LMAO. All the best,to my fellow draught drinking brothers. Cheers. "Guinness is good for you!" |

| Guinness has embarked on a QC crusade here in Thailand. It is insisting that it's draught is only served in Air Con pubs, or the barrel kept in a seperate climate controlled store room for non air con Bars. Good on 'em. |

Also, most places here don't have a proper cellar, where the beers are stored at the proper cool temperature. Even an air-conditioned pub is too warm. A good beer really doesn't like to be stored at 25 - 40 DegC and then have its temperature forced down to 3 - 5 DegC. You really can notice the difference between the few places that have a proper cold room and those that don't. | |

| Asia-Fluid, John Smiths parent company here, also provides Strongbow, and they have the same q/c criteria as Guinness, their Technician 'Top-Gun', (Thong) was poached from Guinness, just to whet your appetites, you lager louts, they are about to introduce Kronenberg 1300, draught to their portfolio, jeez, I can't drink it, massive headaches the following day, I don't get out of bed, i get out of a coma! Personally, I think they're making a big mistake. |

| Marmite, absolutely true,no cellars, however, when a cold room is available, there is a unacceptable distance from keg to dispense, the run usually counteracts the benefits, Ideally, less than a pint, from keg to dispense head, mmmm, perfect. |
