According to Culture Minister Nipit Intarasombat, the Buddhism Promotion Week in Bangkok will be held at Lumpini Park and Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan from 16 to 18 February, and at Wat Yannawa on 18 February. In the provinces, celebrations start today at some monasteries. In addition, the Ministry of Culture will broadcast live for the first time the candle-lit procession from Bohd Gaya in India, where the Lord Buddha achieved his enlightenment. The live broadcast will be conducted by the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) television station from 19.30 to 20.30 hrs on 18 February. The minister invited all Thai people to take part in the Buddhism Promotion Week and watch the sacred candle-lit procession in India via the live broadcast. As the Magha Puja Day is coming round on 18 February, Mr Nipit wished that Thai people would let Buddhist dhamma into their life, using the principles in leading their ways, especially at the time when the country is engulfed with problems for peace in the nation. thainews.prd.go.th
