Wat Phra That Doi Suthep - Chiang Mai

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is one of Thailand's most sacred and well known temples. It was established over 700 years ago and features a copper plated stupa topped by a five tiered gold umbrella. It costs infidels 30B to enter, but Buddhists or people touring within a religious group get in for free.

The temple has either 290, 300 or 309 steps, but as I got the 'tram' to the top (20B for the return only) I didn't care how many there were.

The temple is very busy everyday, and many people were praying; either by walking around the stupa holding a lotus flower and a couple of candles, of by kneeling in front of one of the many holy statues dotted around the place.

The views out over Chiang Mai are aparently spectacular on a clear day, but it was a bit smoggy down in the valley when we went, so I'll leave you with a few other pics.

I don't mind paying 30B if it goes to the upkeep of the place. Don't be such a tight-arse Brian.

It's a lovely windy bike ride up into the fresh air.

Beautiful views to the left and right.
Totally serene when you get there, about 20 km's from the town.

Forget the goats, it could have something to do with mountain sheep though.

Weren't the 30 baht it's the idea they don;t tell ya before you climb 2 hundred and ninety fucking stairs!!! What if you left all your money with yer honey??? There was geriatric old fuck's wheezin' theri way up took 'em hours. Hope they had change.
Thre's another one I hate; it's this wat in Mae Sai. Steps about like Suthep. At the bottom they say if you're fifty, or over, you might die climbin' their stairs. Girl-friend was freakin' out. If it's written on a sign it must be gospel don't ya know. Ran up the first half (Ok I almost died).
First Thai offers me a senior discount's gettin' one across the mouth.

I like Doi Suthep too, never get bored with it.

I liked it when we just sitting in a coffee shop up there and talked. It's nice and cool ohhh apart of those stupid people who like to knock the errr.. I don't know what you call in English, in Thai we say "Ra-Kung".

Haven't we got a Gallery tutorial already?

Basically, just click on the Gallery link above, then click on the 'Create/Edit Folders' (I think) and Bob's your uncle.

The logic being that since she is older, she is more llikely to be the one involved in the accident, thus statistically lowering your odds of injury......?

    Shame on you, Marmite!
