    Wat Prayurawongsawat Thonburi

I walk past this old Chedi quite often and finally decided to check it out.

First, here it is from a distance. I took this shot from under Saphan Phutt, as you can see, the Chedi is quite large, a sort of medival skyscraper:

Here's a closer view of it:

I like the TV antenna on top of the spire. Maybe somebody could contribute a UBC subscription to the Wat?

There are a couple of nice turtles just outside one of the gate:

There were several signs in Thai and English around the place. I took some pics of them to see if I could save myself some typing!

These signs are on the walls of the chedi:

This last one didn't come out as well:

It basically says that Dr. Bradley, an American missionary/doctor/English teacher/newspaper writer performed Thailand's first modern medical operations here.

    Here's the Bodi tree:

Here's a close up of the chedi:

That cat was quite large. When I first saw it I thought that it had to be a Bobcat or Monkey, but it was just a big Allycat.

Here's the back of the Chedi:

If you look closely, you'll see the cat following me around!

Here it is again. DD goes to a temple in Ayuthaya and finds a woman in black underwear. I go to a temple and make friends with big tomcat!

Here's the Turtle Mountain that the sign mentioned. It's in a courtyard next to the Chedi and Wat.

The place was full of dead people:

This one says 'Smile father sir, be happy'. - More or less.

It also says that he was born in 2467 (1924) and died in 2538 (1995)

Here's the iron fence. It was built in England almost 200 years ago and was paid for with the equivilent weight in sugar.

This Wat is just far enough away from the tourist areas on Ratanacosin Island that it is quite unknown to Farangs and is never visited by tourists. It's within sight of Wat Arun (about a kilometer downriver) and a ten minute walk from the Saphan Phutt night market.

Please have mercy for those of us with a tiny screen and slow connection with the pic-sizes.
