    Temple Sothon Chachoengsao Badge

    Hi,

have never been at the temple itself, found this badge for sale, it is very decorative.
    Diameter is about 2 inches.

The seller is calling a price of 1500 Baht, claiming, she herself has paid 1200 Baht at the temple itself.

    Realistic price ?
    Thank You

Simple. If you like it, buy it; if you don't, don't. These things are stamped out to commemorate an event, they have no real value - unless years from now they become rare, collector's items, which is unlikely given that they stamp out thousands of them. Since you weren't there at the event it commemorates, it has no value to you other than as a trinket. Your call. I have dozens of them given to me over the years in a box someplace.

    Thank you for your comments.
I never would have had the idea to buy such a badge for myself, but my daughter in law is keen to get a small present "typical thai".
The Buddha statues are all too common.

Any ideas for something else would be appreciated

I like it. I have never seen one made from that material before so it has novelty factor for me but I have no idea about price. I've also never purchased one. All the ones I have were given to me. Your daughter in law is keen to get a small present "typical thai". If you are happy to pay 1500 Baht for one and you think she'll like it, buy it.

Or chip to Chinatown and get a copy. You know Chinese. They copy just about anything.

halfmile, there are plenty of Thai magazines about amulets. Take a look at one to see if yours is in there and how much they are.
