If you're ever out near Bang Bua Tong kicking your heals then this temple is well worth a visit, especially as admission is free.
Wat Boromracha Kanchanapisek occupies 12 rai of land and was built to commemorate the kings reign of 50 years. The construction took about 12 years. The temple is built in Ming - Ching architectural style copied from the Forbidden City in Beijing with much of the craftmanship coming directly from China. The main Ubosot hall contains three very large Buddha statues made of brass and weighing 18 tonnes each.

If you never visit another Chinese styled temple then you should try to see this one as it is the biggest in Thailand and it used only the most expensive construction materials. The standard of workmanship is of the highest order wherever you look. There is a lift on the ground floor to enable wheelchair access to the upper levels.

Best not to visit on a public holiday as it can get very busy. A short walk from the temple is Bang Bua Tong market which is located on the edge of a canal.
