This will be mostly pictures, not that much to read.....so....Flights via Abu Dhabi were ok, passport control at the airport there was busy then I realised I was at the wrong checkpoint, I should have been waiting at 'transfers'...I barely had time to get on the next flight....
Then within 8 hours I had checked into my hotel room off Charoen Kreung, by the river.
Then we went for my first Japanses meal in Bangkok...
Morning view from my balcony:
Sunset view from same spot
Then it was time for a trip to a rather subdued Kao San Road that stayed open til 5am...probably to give them a chance to recoup some revenue. The cops were obviously ok about it...
Halloween on Kao San Road...even the cops dressed up..
Paragon Mall on a normally bustling friday afternoon seemed rather quiet...
Then I travelled to Pattaya.....first night we settled here:
Then were were invaded by this..even hardened blokes were wary, girls jumped on tables as it 'waved' its way in...eventually a very tall, moustached brave man hammered it with a pool cue.
Loytoy attempted a go on the drums...
After a few hours I was the worse for wear and was driven back to my basic room in the jungle.
It had a great view...
Had a jungle styled breakfast with stuff sourced from the local market...
If you can't finish it, give it to the dog....who devoured the lot, chillis and all.
I felt like Jack Nicholson staying on the empty, shut down resort, the old sign still visible.
The nearest local resident:
The next day it was back to civilisation...
Head massages available here...Eliminator having his follicles fondled:
Then Loytoy hosted a seafood dinner..cooked by his wife, we all sat round the table with the family. Eliminator and family were also present..
At about 2am when there was just us three left, Eliminator tried to play DJ, stumbling towards the CD player..
This large thing landed on my head....
Then finally the next day it was time to get the airport bus from Jomtiem. (eat your heart out National Express)
Final meal at the airport food court:
National animal of the United Arab Emirates:
And finally my two souveniors from the airline...
Yes, it's a life jacket.
PS. A heartfelt thanks to those who made the weekend a most enjoyable and hilarious experience, LoyToy and Eliminator, and a shout out to Pluto who appeared at the Titty Twister, coming up to me out of the blue ''Are you DJ Pat?'' he asked....cue a great laugh and drinks. Great stuff.
