No use dwelling on the past thinking how brilliant it was 20 years ago and how foked it is now with the tourist influx.

I had some of the best time of my life living with the Thais back then before mass tourism foked it all up.

The " whole different way " to me now is to stay in nice gaffs taking advantage of the A/C, hot water, pools and all the modern conveniences and great value for money compared to back in the west .

The days of living in beach huts for 30 baht a night and smoking mull 24/7 are long gone but held in my memory forever.

    Happy days for sure.

I loved the misty mornings with views of the hills - but only when I'd been up drinking all night.

We had a river view room, which was bliss.

Grass was available quite easily but those who sold it always advised caution.

Cheers. I know when I go back in 6 weeks it is not going to be as peaceful. Still, there are other places on the island to visit!

The waterfall was a wash out when we went - literally, it was raining heavily and the national park guy wouldn't let us swim in the water.

We can say we saw it, anyway. But I get the feeling there are another couple of waterfalls on the island?

Yes, but they are none too impressive.
When you enter the NP of Klong Plu watefall you get a ticket which allows you free access to the Than Mayom waterfall situated on the eastern side of the island on the same latitude as Klong Plu.
I`d say it is hardly worth the effort though, obviously depending on what time of year you visit.
When I last went i december there was no more water in the fall than a decent waterhose could supply.
You were not allowed to enter the water and no climbing was allowed either.

Another waterfall I visited on the same trip was close to Salak Phet in the southeastern part of the island.
    It was completely dried out.
So I didn`t bother to check the remaining ones.

    Here is a list:

    Koh Chang | Waterfalls

Yes I agree,The waterfalls were a major let down,I cant believe they have the nerve to charge for them.

Just after that waterfall there is a nice golf range,Im not crazy about golf but this driving range is all out in the open,Great way to pick up a tan rather than the beach and the guy that owns it wonders by every few hours to have a chat and hand out tips,Then he flies out on his plane 300 yards ahead of you.

    All this for 50baht !

There's a new driving range on the island near Klong Son, not far from the ferries. It's called Cookies Driving Range. I might give it a go today.

There's also a new online magazine about Koh Chang called The Koh Chang Sun.

Koh Chang, Thailands online travel guide and local magazine for all the destinations on Koh Chang
