Thread: ANZAC day 2010, Hellfire Pass and Kanchanupburi

I made a comment on an IMPORTANT POSTER on this thread comcerning his opinion of POWs,

Guess what, the guy had it pulled,

He thought it was funny that my relative got bayoneted for wrongly guessing how many pigs would be born,

I don't often travel much North of Phuket but this place is one that I MUST visit .

I used to work with a survivor from there ( strangely enough he was a semi-retired rock blaster in an opencast mine when I knew him ! ) and not only to see the place for what it was but also to have a look and marvel at what the poor sods did in about 6 weeks with hammers , chisels and crowbars, what would have taken 6 bloody months with modern equipment and methods.

I was working with heavy plant, shifting rock etc at the time in various opencast mines at the time with the old boy and it seems absolutely incredible what they did.

I was there and what a blast. Great day. I was just out of your photos at Hellfire pass and at the cemetry! I see you got a VB. We managed to get one and then they handed me and me mate a disgusting KIWI beer. One mouthfull and we spat it out. We weren't the only ones. One bloke said - F*cking Kiwi's drinking heaps of VB and expect us to drink their shit!! Been in Pattaya for 5 years so I thought it was about time I did ANZAC at Kanchanaburi. I go there heaps anyway!
