First because of the crowds we had to get directions.
Then we had to look at the map...
Did, I say it was crowded?
Yes, I can hear you.
Many photographs of HM the King in action.
Sometimes, it is time to take a nap...
Many exhibits. I did not visit this one.
We had rice fields...
Did I say it was crowded? *breaking news* Now open until June 11th 2006!
Hillbilly you are the thailand travel guru!
Once again - another great thread.
Who was the official sponsor of the event ? AIS ?
Bangkok is going to be shutdown next week. Can't get into Sukhumvit.
righto butterfly, so going by your statement - for all of next week you cannot drive, walk, run, skytrain, subway, walk on your hands into sukumvit.
Gee - one would assume the million or so people who live there must be a bit annoyed.
well at least for the cars. Thank god, we have the BTS
so sukumvit road is totally closed for a whole week???
I can't drive here next weekend, can I????
WTF?!
dont worry gow - I am just pulling butterly's statement to bits
You can only leave sukhumvit but not get there. Wireless and a few others will be closed for street parking. They want to let the way for the different diplomatic missions for the King ceremony. So unless you are the British Ambassador, I wouldn't recommend using a car next week. It will start progressively next week.
so wireless and a few others will be closed for street parking? Well I suppose that equates to the whole of sukumvit being shut down.
Gow - I think you will be fine visiting your hunk of a man.
stop pulling my leg
You know what I mean. Here one street is closed and it's cahos
ohh, congratulations GOW.Gow - I think you will be fine visiting your hunk of a man.
Didn't know you'd changed boyfriends.
Perhaps I should of called him a 'slab' of a man instead
The damn thing created a traffic jam that lasted the whole weekend. The wife said 800,000 people went on Saturday the 3rd. With my clastrophobia I had to stay well away. In fact I could not even get to Tesco Lotus to shop on Sunday!!
The new Foodland at IT plaza is nice.
It was no fun if you live around there! Every night last week traffic was utter chaos and typically as I had to be in BKK by 6, Friday was the worst by far. I even left work at 1 to make sure I got there, but couldn't get out for love nor money. I tried everything even getting a mororbike to Laksi and the train from there but had no chance.
I resigned myself to my fate of looking at the crumpet in the seafood centre until the traffic began to ease up. I finally got down there at 9pm!
One serious concern with many of the locals was what if there had been a terrorist strike or similar emergency? It could have been carnage. Impact is OK for concerts and the like as by the time they are over, traffic on Chaeng Wattana and other traffic outlets are usually quiet.
This however was a total lack of foresight by the organisers as apart from the Expressway which can get cloggged up as easily as any road in Bangkok there are only three BKKwards exit routes, all of which lead onto Chaeng Wattana and two of which are single laned roads.
I was locked in by that traffic jam as well. I need to use Changwattana, and could not. Spent hours winding around in the back sois to get from Don Muang to Laksi. Now I heard they have extended it until the end of the month.
They have indeed but everyopne planned to come last week so the traffic is back to normal now and down to a steady stream of people. No chaos at all! Just why they never did that in the first place I'll never know......
