    Hua Hin - Its crap

The missus and I headed to HH on Friday night straight from BKK about 6pm.

We got into HH about 9pm so not too bad.

For the life of us we couldn't find the fucking beach or any hotels near the beach. We had to settle on one for the night at 800B which turned out to be next to the beach but not available for two nights.

We went looking for another hotel (I had researched and found several ones available around the 1000 mark near the beach) of course both of us being crap couldn't fucking find any place at less tha 4000 a night so we fucked it off drove home and spent the holiday money on clothes and drinkl.

Hua Hin what a load of wank.

Well, if either of you had a brain you would've booked in advance.

I've got a big bungalow on the beach next week for only 1500B/night.

    Are you stupid squirel?

How hard is it to find the beach? Considering you drove south from Bangkok and I am assuming you dont want to go to burma then logic would say that you would head east once arriving to find the beach. Sheesh.

last time I was there I stayed 100 metres from the beach in a great guest house for 800baht.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

You should have talked to Peace, he lives there and could have helped you out. As an aside, you could have an enjoyable dinner with him, as I did the last time I was in HH.

Splitlid, Erco and Proffessor Fart all live in Hua Hin and I don't mind the place.

I lived and worked in Hua Hin for six weeks with Whore Ning.

I used to go to Hua Hin all the time 27 years ago when I lived in BKK for 8 months. Usually stayed at the railway hotel. It was always deserted the beach was great.
I drove through there a few weeks ago and couldn't recognize the place. The railway hotel was a foofoo resort and the beach is now choked with shit condos and GH. I just kept motoring on to Chumpon. I been stopping in ChaAm the past couple of road trips. I like it there better.

Yes, it's a typical Thai beach town with umbrellas, lounge chairs and tons of food vendors. The beach has plenty of tall trees for shade and the promenade is now being repaved.

There are plenty of inexpensive hotel rooms, restaurants and the ubiquitous "ap nam" and "suka 3 baht" signs.

The town has an interesting harbor for fishing boats and plenty of seafood.

Not many farang around, but there is a "Crawfords Irish Pub" a short way off the beach: several draft beers including Guiness and decent pub food.

I have a friend with a condo about 8 K down the beach toward Hua Hin, not far from the Regent Cha Am. This area is nice and quiet with a beautiful beach and a number of good restaurants ("Tom Yam Gung" and "Sakthong" come to mind) serving both Thai and farang food.

In my mind Hua Hin is OK for a night out or an afternoon stroll, but I much prefer staying in the more quiet zone between there and Cha Am.

Right, I actually like Hua Hin, the beach is nice and the town also.
A bit further than Pattaya but if you're not into girlie bars, it is the closest 'nicest' beach place to go from Bangkok with the facilities of a small town.
Cheaper than Pattaya also, I think.

For me the hotels are in general more expensive for what you get in Pattaya. This is for a family of 4.

Could be that Pattaya because a lot older has a lot more choice.

I did think about booking but I forgot between logging of the internet and finsihing up on my course.

It was night when we got there so there was no real idea of what way the beach might be. Locals as usual weren't much help. The missus was convinced the beach was where the bus station was so I had to completely ignore her as usual.

The first hotel was really nice and was 100m from the beach.

The others we found the next day were about 2500 up and not really next to the beach other than some 40,000k bungaloes ( a bit much even for me).

We went to CHa-Am and had a look but decided that we could stay in Bang Saen if we wanted that crappy Thai beach resort feeli.

I now own five new shirts from the factory outlet mall place. 4000 Baht well spent and two new pairs of shoes.

The missus came away with a pile of shopping bags and a happy smile on her face.

Better than sitting in some over priced hotel on a beach looking at sweaty Germans and Israelis.

Even better is I got to have a beer with my mates and sleep in my own bed for the first time in a month.

HH itself appeared to be just an over developed toruist trap.

The last time I went to Hua Hin (4 years ago) I thought the beach was quite nice (and empty). This picture shows the southern part of the beach. I think I will be staying near there next week.

If you haven't been to Hua Hin in four years Marmite, I think you are going to notice that it has grown a bit.

I like Hua Hin. The beach and bay is similar to Bournemouth, and the new Market Village or whatever its called shopping centre is great.

Hua Hin is much older than Pattaya. In fact it was the first seaside resort in Thailand.

This is Hua Hin in 2003. I went there to celebrate my birthday alone. Yes, it's a dumb idea.
