    Market

Shopping is a must doing when you are in Bangkok. Well know and very unique market is not in Bangkok. But it is not too far. You only imagine small canals teeming using the boats piled using the freshest products, and paddled by ladies to prevent or sell. This really is amazing and you might not find such scene in any other place in the world.

Yes, if only there were a "one-stop-shop" that could pre-arrange such an all-encompassing and wonderously fascinating and complete tour of the city of angels.

    Any ideas Pimmy?

Is the trip by van or coach?

Look forward to double parking right outside Central World or Erawan Shrine

Are the drivers of the nose picking persuasion or do they frown on such peasant behavior?

Will they be pleased with verbal tips?

Do you have any drivers who happen to be named Somchai? Like, for real.

My recommendation is to get out of it as quickly as possible.

Every time I am forced to go to that noisy, crowed, traffic snarled mess for some reason I marvel that anyone would voluntarily live in that human ants nest. Still each to his own I suppose some need crowds around them for comfort and security and to be entertained by others.

I suspect medication would be needed to stay there.

The first thing that hits me when I get off the bus (not mad enough to drive) when I have to go there is the noise then the air pollution. I know what peace, quiet and fresh air is and I much prefer it to noise and pollution.

Top 5 Bangkok attractions surely should include a few brief visits to the city's many pie makers establishments.

I'll never understand why they got rid of Suan Lum, which was a gentle introduction to Bangkok for visitors and covered most bases.

Plenty of food and beer, sexy birds and the odd cock in a frock dancing on stage for that truly authentic Bangkok vibe.

Sounds like my friend's description of a recent trip to Delhi.

"It was like kicking over an ant hill, pouring gasoline over the scattered inhabitants and lighting them on fire."

At the time they said Suan Lum was making way for a mall.

The 'replacement' Suan Lum is up Ratchada by Lat phrao, in the grounds of a huge crappy hotel always full of Chinese.

It's a horrible place but they got their beloved Chink tourists to spend money.

I doubt any white tourists venture up there like the old place.

I remember thinking at the time: just what Bangkok needs, another mall.

I didn't know the replacement was in Lad Phrao.

None of the so called replacements have been anything close to the same atmosphere.
