    Trip to Koh Chang

Went to Koh Chang for 5 days. We went on the 999 express bus service from suvarnabhumi.... 300 baht a ticket.
Stayed at Dewa... Lovely loom, comfy bed, huge bath tub, huge pool and hardly any guests.

Heres my pics - I've been getting all professional and arty with the "pro" setting on my phone camera recently

    Klong Prao Beach

    Went swimming in Klong Phlu.

When i ordered "Grilled Chicken" off the menu i didn't expect the whole chicken....
    Oh well

Went to Bang Bao fishing village at the bottom of the island for some seafood and some pics.

Lonely Beach is where all backpackers and people looking for cheap beer and looms go. Some interseteing characters spotted.. The best bit was the table full of young farangs all nursing a single big bottle of Chang water all texting away on their phones while the sun went down

Fire Show on White Sands Beach

    Random food pics

    Cats

No doubt answering surveys, searching tefl jobs, updating blogs, tweeting bollix and mentoring other cheapskate wannabes in order to maintain their global experience and bizcations by roistering on and on about how ethnically unique and endearingly cultural the native Ko Changers (read hotel staff and service workers) are - without even realizing how many are Myanmaris, Laotian and Khmer.

Of course, they (also) could've just been saying hi to mom, I s'pose.

You should have flipped em' a tenner or bought them a case of water, Punty - just for effect.

Some really nice pics mate, I rather like Chang in the low season.

No need to go all the way South when Chang is just there.

Those pics really test the new TD upgrade policy of not resizing.

Thing is, the hotel was probably only painted last year.

Good burger, with the bun toasted so it doesn't get soggy with the juices.

That is the Dewa, minimalist with raw cement, even in the rooms.

^^ Yeah, it was a joke.

^ was thinking the same. Viewing on a FHD 50inch TV and the quality is outstanding.

Whoa...I've only been to Koh Chang once and that was way way back in '92. What a difference!

Back then no pier and a rutted path around the island, pit toilets and bucket showers out the back of the beach, oil lamps in the tiny no-mod-con beach huts...
    pues, estamos aqui

Was there a couple of months ago. Great little island in the low season. Awesome for families. What I like about it is there's a budget for everyone.you can live in a nipa hut smoking bongs and drinking Mekong all day or go 3 or 5 star. Up to you as they say. Plenty of good Scran to.

Went in 2010 6 days and it rained down all but but one day, where we kayaked to white sands beach in the drizzle. Reggae bar was ok, again weather didn't allow for much fun, had a vindaloo which was terrible.

Keep meaning to return at some point, might wait til early Jan.

And I always say, the more crispy lettuce and sauce, the better.
If only all places did that, proper bun then toasted. I'm not sure where I'm going later, but a tasty burger beckons.

Koh Chang holds fond memories for me.
Was staying in a backpackers in Trat after a visa run and got talking to a couple of British long stay tourists who were raving about Koh Chang.
To cut a long story short I headed of with them the next day and stayed at the Banana hotel on the sea/rocks half way along White Sands beach. 200b at a night for a room with fan and mossie net, the best view ever looking down on top of the clear sea with fish in abundance.
Met the missus there as well and this giant butterfly came and landed on her nose for a few seconds while we were chatting.
    The rest is history..
