Phanom Rung historical Park December 2014

I have seen many Khmer Monuments within Thailand and Cambodia but I have never seen one so completely restored as Phanom Rung. Hence why I am doing a new thread on it and not including it in my North East tour thread. I was fascinated by this monument, it took the Thais 17 years to complete the restoration and what a job they have done. Anyone who has been here and has any interest at all in these monuments must be blown away. It sits on the summit of a spent volcano with views over into Cambodia.

Follow the stone road up to the entrance, quite a walk mind you.

Piwanoi lives just up the road. You should pop in and have a slug of his home made wine.
I agree Phanom Rung is worth a visit. Not for people with walking difficulties, in my opinion.

I had not done my home work on this monument so I had no idea just how completely restored it was.

There is a secondary entrance on the other side of the mountain. They have provided wheel chair ramps so the disabled can enter.

I was very impressed to see they had done this.

Doing threads on Temples are tricky ground as one actually needs to be there to get it. Pictures don't cut it. Anyway throw some eye candy in.

Always wondered how they could get such perfect lines using hand tools only.
