Thread: Lumpini Park Bangkok Protesters ground zero.

This thread is about what is going down in Lumpini park Bangkok. Many people now know about this park but many would of never have been here and have no idea concerning the set out or scale of the Park. Its a walk around showing what is
happening now with the protesters living there. This is not a political thread so don't bother writing political comments. Go to the many other political threads if you feel the need to pass comment concerning the political situation.The first bunch of pics where taken 7 days ago when the protesters where relocating from the street to the park. The entrance from Ratchadamri Road.

Enter through the gates, there are quite a few different entrances into this park. All now have security on them vetting people who enter the park .

Really nice park this one and a great spot to be protesting. Must be said that the environment is suffering with some of these people just throwing their crap every where. Even plastic bottles and rubbish entering the lakes. Just too many people there to control.

Yes well, suppose they need to hang their washing somewhere.

Much better than camping on the road as they have been for the last 4 months.

There are two outside gyms in this park. They charge 20 baht a time or 200 baht a month. Great value. this is the smaller one.

The Silom entrance . This now has quite a bit of security as its where the main stage is set up. Suthep is usually here every night at 6.00PM for the National anthem and Buddhist prayers.

The buses are public shitters.In the background is the Dusit Thani Hotel. Suthep lives here.

Opening into the park is the MRT public transport station. Places gets rammed full around sunset. You have the Public using the park for exercise and now the protesters setting up shop. Its a mad house at the moment.

There are thousands of punters living in the park and all receive free food and drink. The cost must be huge.

Actually one don't have to be living there to get free food and drink, just rock up and get in line if you want. Backpackers will be moving in soon I imagine.

You want Coffee, they have that as well.

Hardly move in here with all the tents. This was last week, a shit load more now as you will see in coming pics.

This is the main avenue in the park. all the infrastructure from the streets was relocated here and resembled. Huge amount of work but the Thais had it sorted within 24 hours. These people amase me how they get things done when they want to.

BMA to ensure Lumphini Park ecosystem unharmed by PDRC rally

BANGKOK, 4 March 2014 (NNT) – Bangkok City Hall is dispatching officials to watch over the ecosystem within Lumphini Park to prevent adverse effects that may result from protest activities inside the park.

According to Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumband Paribatra, Bangkok City Hall on Sunday mobilized around 3,000 personnel from 28 district offices to clean up 4 spots-- Asok, Ratchaprasong, Pathumwan and Silom-- earlier used as protest venues by the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC).

On Monday, the governor ordered relevant offices under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's jurisdiction to dispatch officials to Lumphini park to ensure proper hygiene for those using the park for various activities, and to ensure that animals and the ecosystem inside the park would not be afflicted by the PDRC's rallies within the park.
