Is going to Pratunam this weekend a bad idea?

My wife wants to go shopping at Platinum this weekend. I see from the protest maps that the Pratunam intersection has had some issues. What is Pratunam like right now, is it mellow or sketch?

I would be taking a minibus into town from Kanchanaburi, to either Victory Monument or Sanam Luang, and then taking a taxi or tuk-tuk to Pratunam. We'd stay Saturday night, ideally in the Pratunam area. Thanks for any info.

It's fine. Was there last week. Don't take a tuk tuk. Taxi much better.

get the 140 or 139 air con bus from VM, it's only round the corner. You don't want to be dragged round Plantinum, unless you are a masochist, go up the road 200 meters to phantip plaza and let the mrs get on with it.

The only thing you need to be concerned about around Pratunam is either getting run over by a car or falling into to the klong and drowning.

Its all over mate, the protesters are partying in lumpini park.

It is a debatable situation. Lots of eye candy in platinum, lots less in pantip..

This is true BUT Panthip has got gadgets. Much more manly than being dragged round clothes shopping.

And aging, dust-covered crud at that!

I use Fortune these days. I mean, it's even got a Ukelele shop FFS. Who doesn't need one of those!
