I’ve decided to start a new thread related specifically to “Bicycling in Thailand”. This is different than the other thread started by myself that had to do with walking and bicycling in Ban Chang in that this venues and locations of these rides venture further out than the Ban Chang area.
26 May 2012: On this day, 4 of the "Ban Chang Rough Riders" decided to go to ride with the "Bangkok Hash Hound Bickers" who sponsored a ride at Khao Kheow in Si Racha. 47 kilo of on and off road terrain and mountains. Nice day to ride.
It was a well organized event with bicycle maintenance services and bike supplies available.
Here is the registrations and bicycle maintenance service area and riders preparing for the ride.
There were well over 50 riders on this ride. Here we are at the pre ride orientation.
After a quick 5 kilo of riding on a hard surface, the lead pack ventured off road. It was another short 5 kilo or so before the terrain turned into double track that rocky, channeled from rains, and had a steep incline. Often requiring riders to get off their bicycles and walk their bicycles up the hills.
The downhills, both off road and asphult surfaces were swift and welcomed.
It was a hot day so this portion of the ride under a vegetation canopy that actually formed a tunnel for 50 meters or so was welcomed. Cooled things down a little.
And sometimes you just gotta slow down and smell the roses. Or in this case, see the deer.
