I just got back from an interesting excursion to attend the wedding of one of the in-laws in Pachinburi, which is a different ceremony from what they do up here in Nan.
Someone sponored a tour bus for the 55 people from our village to travel there and back, a dated model with ceiling fans and a very inadequate engine, or maybe it was just the driving style of the toothless old git who sported a rather revolting looking hairdo, contrasting the dyed black of his hair with the 2-weeks grey/white recent growth. This should have been an ample warning sign to prepare me for the ordeal which followed and cummulated in having my glasses knocked off me head and being forced into my first fist-fight for more than 30 years.
Anyway, he somehow managed to extend journey time to more than 14 hours each way. For the first half-hour or so I welcomed the presence of the computerised onboard karaoke as a welcome addition to onboard entertainment facilities, specially since, apart from a crate of beer and another of officially taxed Lao Kao from the local brewery (concerns that there wouldn't be any rocket-fuel of comparable caliber in Pachinburi turned out to have been justified later), there wasn't any worthwhile occupation to idle the time away.
Of course, at this stage, I hadn't realised that the switch was preset permanently to "ON", nor that the broken volume regulator was glued in place fixed on the max setting...
Haven't processed pics yet, to be continued.
