    A wedding.

I just got back from an interesting excursion to attend the wedding of one of the in-laws in Pachinburi, which is a different ceremony from what they do up here in Nan.

Someone sponored a tour bus for the 55 people from our village to travel there and back, a dated model with ceiling fans and a very inadequate engine, or maybe it was just the driving style of the toothless old git who sported a rather revolting looking hairdo, contrasting the dyed black of his hair with the 2-weeks grey/white recent growth. This should have been an ample warning sign to prepare me for the ordeal which followed and cummulated in having my glasses knocked off me head and being forced into my first fist-fight for more than 30 years.

Anyway, he somehow managed to extend journey time to more than 14 hours each way. For the first half-hour or so I welcomed the presence of the computerised onboard karaoke as a welcome addition to onboard entertainment facilities, specially since, apart from a crate of beer and another of officially taxed Lao Kao from the local brewery (concerns that there wouldn't be any rocket-fuel of comparable caliber in Pachinburi turned out to have been justified later), there wasn't any worthwhile occupation to idle the time away.

Of course, at this stage, I hadn't realised that the switch was preset permanently to "ON", nor that the broken volume regulator was glued in place fixed on the max setting...

Haven't processed pics yet, to be continued.

Wasn't much of a fight, and no blood.
Not with the driver, either, but the little twerp who I stopped using the karaoke at 3 am on the backleg of the journey. Well, I was a lot more impolite than I usually am and seem to recall that I mentioned his dog and his mother in the same sentence.

He thumped me on the head as I dismounted the bus at our final destination 8 hours later - not a word or angry gesture before then. That was the only punch he landed, since I didn't see it coming. After this I was just warding him off, wasn't too difficult - he was drunk, I wasn't, rarely am early mornings.
Soon he was escorted away by his mates.

It was, of course, all my fault, I was calling him names and took his toy away because I wanted to get some sleep earlier on... and I had been a bit of a pest and party pooper throughout, really, even before I took confirmative action to stop the noise.

Hence I don't bother with Thai weddings. You get a better class of people in the monkey cage at the zoo.

    Thai - Chinese !
Makes my skin crawl. As thats what my first wife was. I met her in KL where her dad had a couple of Thai restaurants, Things were Ok until the 97 crash when it became evident that Dads money was a bit of an illusion, it all belonged to banks. As a farang I was a convenient excuse for her family and her to blame for their economic downfall. The previously friendly in laws turned into a couple of big hair savages. It had all turned to shit for them and they were going to make the cause of their demise, The farang, Pay. After a couple of sad and dramatic years, I ended the whole thing by taking the opportunity to screw her (butt ugly) best freind and make sure she caught us.

I felt the urge to get the story off me chest.
Haven't reviewed the video yet, but will be soon.

Anyway 20 posts without making the effort, not bad, but no match for CMN's centuries.

And the party begins, shortly after:

    It's fun for a while...:

Fortunately, they turned it off at 11pm.

We arrived at 6 in the morning, the loudspeakers for the main event were in place already, but the music didn't start until 7am. What better place for the speakers could one choose, than right outside the room prepared for the guests to have a little lay-down after the strenuous journey?

The main decorative thingy for the ceremony being prepared:

Unlike around here, up North, the majority of folks from surrounding villages didn't turn up for freebies:

But there were more than in the last pic, celebrations all over,
