Ayutthaya Loy Kratong

Loy Kratong in Ayutthaya starts a bit earlier than it does here in Jomtien, so I missed most of it expecting it to kick off around midnight when basically it was allover by 10pm

Obviously it is a lot better here in Pattaya and Jomtien as we have thousands of bargirls all desperate to get a bit of loving on that special night, but I was stuck in Ayutthaya , in Pattaya most of the girls dress up in traditional costumes, Ayutthaya I didn't see any of them

Anyway first off you need some stuff and somewhere to make the Kratongs that you will later be throwing into the river, in the old days it would all be eco friendly stuff, a few years ago polystyrene was all the rage, you could have a kratong that would last a life time, nowadays it is back to the eco friendly ones, so what do you need? a mat, some willing helpers, a few acres of banana trees to chop down to make the bases and some flowers and candles.

This first picture is outside the Ayutthaya Guest House in Soi Naresuan 1.

Here we have ther finished product already to be sold to gulible tourists.

The celebrations begins by blowing up giant sized condoms and sticking a flame in there.

And now you know why there is so much litter in Thailand.
