Windsurfing competition begins on Jomtien Beach.
On Saturday Morning, Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya was guest of honor at the opening of the First Round of the Thailand-Pattaya Windsurfing Championships. There are five divisions of racing depending on age and ability and the action will continue until Sunday. The event is sponsored by Pattaya City Hall and Thai Airways and has been organized by the Thailand Windsurfing Association. The purpose of the event which is taking place on Jomtien Beach is to promote tourism and to offer opportunities to Thai Windsurfers to compete in a high level competition which is also seen as preparation for professional Thai Windsurfers who will be attending the Beijing Olympics later this year.
