The Thai Flying Club in Bang Phra (just North of Sriracha) will host its annual fly-in and airshow on Saturday, 29 August, starting at 2:00 p.m. The Thai Flying Club is the oldest private flying club in the Kingdom and is a base to over 30 small aircraft.

The airshow is being held to welcome the new students coming to begin the next groundschool class, and also there will be a cookout in the Bushpilot Clubhouse to congratulate and present certificates for students who have completed their groundschool and “First Solo.”

The club offers a 30 minute “Introduction Flight” to anyone interested in trying their hand at the controls of an aircraft.

There will also be a flying competition between club members and visitors attempting to drop “water bombs” on a target on the runway; the closest water balloon to the target wins.

One of the club’s members, Dr. Rolf, will be celebrating his 1,000th flying hour on this weekend. Another club member owns a high performance aerobatic Extra 300 aircraft, and it is probable that Kruu Piya will give an aerobatic demonstration with this plane.

Pattaya’s own Papa Dave will be competing in the water bombing, and he will be bringing his years of flying an F-4 off a carrier over Vietnam to bear on all the other competitors.

If you have ever thought about learning to fly, then this is your chance to come and make some pilot friends and learn how you can get started.

Maps to the flying club and more information are available on www. thaiflyingclub.com. For any further information call the Worawoot Hotline – 086 834 2636.
