Preparations In Full Swing For The Pattaya Marathon 2009

PREPARATIONS IN FULL SWING FOR THE PATTAYA MARATHON 2009

Preparations for the 15th Pattaya Marathon are in full swing with Dusit Thani Pattaya as the official hotel for the prestigious event scheduled on Sunday, 19 July 2009.


The event features five race categories namely:

Wheelchair - 42.195 kilometres Marathon - 42.195 kms Half marathon - 21.100 kms Quarter marathon - 10.550 kms and Student marathon - 5.000 kms.

1. The fee for the 42.195 km marathon is 500 baht until 12 July 2009 and 700 baht from 13th-18th July.

2. The fee for the half marathon is 400 baht until 16 July and then 500 baht between 17th and 18th July.

3. For the quarter and student marathon the fee is 300 baht up to the morning of 19th July 2009.

The race starts and finishes at Pattaya Beach Road Soi 4 with different starting times for each category.


The city marathon festival has always drawn huge crowds rooting for their favourite athletes and giving support to the human spirit surrounding the whole competition.

Sponsors include among others; the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Bangkok and Pattaya Office), Athletic Association of Thailand under the patronage of His Majesty the King, Pattaya City and Dusit Thani Pattaya, the official hotel and home of the organizing committee and athletes.

This year’s marathon provides more than 2 million baht in prizes for the winners and each runner who hits the finishing line on time will receive the Pattaya marathon medal.

Applications to take part in the event can be made at the Pattaya city hall on telephone number 038-253129, Monday-Friday at 08.30 am – 6.30 pm and Saturday / Sunday at 08.30 am – 4.30 pm.
