Pattaya returns to life and begins to celebrate Songkran.

Pattaya returns to life and begins to celebrate Songkran.

It is refreshing to see that despite the problems in Bangkok and the recent problems here in Pattaya local Thai residents and foreign tourists have decided to ignore the troubles and enjoy the Songkran Festival which is a time of celebration around the Kingdom of Thailand.

Although the official Songkran Day here in Pattaya is not until 19th, the water fighting has already begun.

Traditionally Soiís 7 and 8 off Pattaya Beach Road will remain wet from now until 19th.

Everyone was in high spirits and clearly having lots of fun.

On Sunday Night we ventured out to Walking Street and saw plenty of tourists taking advantage of what the street has to offer.

We spoke with some of them who urged everyone to come to Pattaya and not to cancel their holidays; however some who had planned to spend a few nights in Bangkok have now decided to remain in Pattaya until they are due to leave the country.

Khun Kanong, a manager of a restaurant on Walking Street suggested that although the troubles will undoubtedly have an effect, he was encouraged to see that the State of Emergency declared in Pattaya only lasted 6 hours on Saturday and the red shirts dispersed as soon as the conference had been cancelled.

He urges the Pattaya Administration to work hard now, to lure Thai and Foreign Tourists back to Pattaya as soon as possible.
