Due to this Thursday and Friday being Buddhist holidays it might be wise to stock up with alcohol as most shops won't be selling!

Aye, but I assume the little Mom & Pop shops will be selling, correct?
indeed, if one finds 2 days abstinence a little too much to deal with.Originally Posted by good2bhappy

^^^ accepted but as far as i know as of last night no Pattaya bars/gogos had yet received any letters of the closure, as always it is left to the last moment, as in they will probably be handed out some time this evening. Is there some reason why the letters can not be handed out one week in advance and some reason why the TAT can't provide a list of days for tourists during the course of the year that bars will not be able to serve alcohol.
^^ Agree with what you say. I learn to take each day as it come.

Buddhist lent Thursday?
First lecture is Friday?
I also get Thursday off but not Friday.
Schools in BKK have both days
anyway they are red on the calendar
I have Thursday and Friday off (I work at a school in BKK) and was going to head down to Pattaya Thursday but I expect all the bars to be closed so will wait until Friday. I know of at least one bar in Pattaya that will be open - one of the owners is related to one of the police chiefs.
"Fuck off. And take your stupid cult with you."
-Scarlett Johansson to Tom Cruise
you school teachers get like 13 weeks off in a year.......
There is always somewhere to get a drink in Pattaya, i am not normally an afternoon drinker but for some strange reason every time there is a closure i have to go out in the afternoon and get pissed, not sure what point i am trying to prove but i can't help myself from doing it.
^ break the rule perhaps
Yes, plenty places to drink, but the atmosphere is shite!
Gotta agree here - all bars will have their lights turned down and music off, some will have the shutters closed except for a tiny crack where people can crawl under. Instead of alcohol, many bars will be serving soft drinks, so you'll see loads of punters in outdoor beer bars sipping on coke. It's dreadful.
Just get a stack of DVDs and Booze and drink the two lonely days away. Me I will be having a drunken party.
Got to disagree with a lack of atmosphere, there are 1 or 2 bars i normally frequent when there is a closure and they are packed with like minded ex-pats who know where to go, normally some of the best piss ups of the year, i won't mention the bars on the open forum but if anyone wants to know send me a pm.
