How dead is BKK during Songkran?

Thai people have been telling me not to keep my shop open during Songkran b/c most Thais leave for vacations elsewhere. But being as my place caters to Farangs I'm looking for some feedback on whether or not to close. If my peers here at TD don't go anywhere, the rest them who don't know about TD probably won't either. I'll stay open, even though I've already gave my staff the days off. This is my 1st time in Bkk for this celebration, so I don't really have a point of reference. Thanks for your help!

I does get pretty quiet unless you go somewhere like Khao San Road which is pretty mental.

Personally, I'd take a few days off, as it'll probably be pretty dead.

There is nothing worse (and I can personally attest) than attempting to run a bar, restaurant or shop during the water-throwing.

    Fly to Singapore or something...

Bkk during Songkhran is my favourite time actually. It's quieter.

For business owners, dunno. Given that so many operators leave town, you might be OK staying open. Only one way to find out.

These are similar to my sentiments. I'll probably stay on premise but just go it alone and let my already well rested staff have a few more days. It seems like the lack of patrons may be counteracted by the lack of options. Thanks for the help.
