    Bringing back spirits ceremony

KK reminds me that I haven't posted a ceremony which my family did it for my brother yet.

"Mongol" << I'm not kidding that I'm mongol but we aren't called "mongol" here. They call us "Thai Song Dum". It will take for hours to explain about my forefathers, primogenitor or whatever you call.

A few months ago, my brother got motorbike accident then my family did "Pang Kwan" ceremony (Thai Song Dum Language) for him. It's about bringing back his spirits. We believe that when people get accident, they will lose their self-confidence then we have to bring them back, that's it.

What we have to prepare is chicken, stream rice, fruit, etc. which we can find (something that we can eat, of course).

Yes, something to drink too, depend on what you can get but Lao Khao is needed.

My brother, his wife, parents and me must be in the ceremony and other relatives also.

We can't miss this guy "Voodoo doctor" / "Black megician" (I know you are laughing at my language but I really don't know how to say in English )

His duty is, tells the primogenitors and ghosts around there that give my brother's spirits/self-confidence back to him and which him luck.

My brother had to eat / drink everything there but just lil bit.

After that me, his wife, parents and relatives will tie black stings on his wrists.

    The end.

    And the year is 2006

Still pretty harmless (although not sure I want my kid to be all into 'spirits' and that).

Black magic is generally bad so white magician would be better (I think voodoo is bad as well) so maybe a shaman/en or witch doctor would be better?

Also you need to look up mongol as I was using it in a different context babe!

    series of crashes

    Hi Goddess,

Thanks for sharing this, again i must say this was something out of my cultural knowledge in this country's believings...

As you can see my english is also i little weird...

    To go to the point:

I crashed my pick up on the car in front of me in November, roughly 100 K damages, i did not do any ceremony to remove this possible bad spirits staying around me since...
I as well so not reajusted my self confidence level as i am more affraid then before and drive therefore more carefully, eventually to slowly now !

So today as i was driving slowly, one motorbike crashed in the back of my pick up, i slowly then try to go to the side of the road to leave space for the heavy morning rush hour traffic, the poor fellow was jumping on the saddle of the bike hoocked on the pickup...

I then stopped, the bike disengaged from pick up alone, and i moved finally to safety at the road side...
The biker left his vehicle laying,in the middle of the road, a truck nearly rolled over, it created some traffic problems, walked over me and asked immediate help of the fellows in brown to sort out the problem...

I told him that if he kisses my ass he will have to pay ! That's the normal rule all over, no need to get the brownies, i have no damage, so we can both carry on and he will replace the few broken plastic parts of his bike by himself...

No way to make him understand !

I should pay, we should get Police...

A Thai friend passes by and explain him the same story of mine, this made him groan, took some time until he agreed ( i still think he did not agreed, may be he will wait for a revenge at this same spot i pass every morning ? )

He finally returned to get the bike from the middle of the road, no special damages, wanted to collect some of the plastic parts left over, but late a few seconds a trucker cracks the parts under his tyres...

We left the place, my Thai Friend will receive by tomorow 1 K to buy some sawadi Pimai gift for her 2 kids, i prefer this then to give the 500 Thb for a fault i do not feel responsible !

    THE QUESTION IS:

I should so get for the ceremony ?

The guy crashing in me, will he get a ceremony by himself ?

Awaiting your kind advice dear goddess

I don't know if other people do this ceremony. Pang Kwan is a ceremony of Thai Song Dum group.

Myself, I think it's silly but it's the way me and my family live, I can't tell them that "Hey, this stupid thing!". My family never do this one for me and I wish not.

For your question, forreachingme, I have no idea if you need one. Sorry, I'm useless.

Off the subject but why are things not always chronological in my page? Meaning why is forachingheart # 3 on my chart with her posting at 6:23 and KenKaniff # 7 at 5:53. Plus I often dont get the last post for 15 to 20 minutes.
    Alls well that ends well.

You might have them in descending order?

You can change it on your control panel if so.

I agree , those were nice photos . Thank you for sharing .
Where I live half of the year we do something like that . We get some monks and ALOT of food and even more friends and family and do what is called a " Tamboon " First there is lots of chanting , followed by eating and drinking untill nobody can see straight . Someday I will figure out how to post a few photos of it .

This reminded me of something my Dad's ex Thai wife told me.

She got married again soon after to a young, nasty Thai man and he did allsorts of not so nice things to her. Mostly he was after the money she had. We are still friends with her and I asked her as politely as I could why she married him and what she saw in a man of his nature.

I was shocked about the story she told me. Apparently this man made a voodoo doll and paid a witch doctor to make her fall in love with this man and be trapped into marrying him. As long as he kept the voodoo doll in the home she would love this man.

I always saw on the TV the baddies on Thai soaps turning to voodoo but I didn't think some Thai people took this so serious. You learn something new everyday, thankyou for sharing this GoW and educating me on the many customs of Thai beliefs.
    Welcome to the jungle!
