Pattaya 8 Hour Enduro this weekend
By Dr. Iain Corness

The second Pattaya 8 Hour Enduro is on this weekend (18/19 August) and more than 25 teams have already entered for this event. It is being held at the Motor Sport Center on Highway 36 which is about 100 meters past the Shell petrol station on the left side, heading towards the Bira Circuit.

The idea of an eight-hour enduro was tried earlier this year by local motorsport enthusiast Urs Schoenenberger. Following the success of the first event, he has continued with the concept, preparing a new eight km circuit and opening up the event for international, as well as local riders.
Each team has a minimum of three riders, and a maximum of four. There are also six categories of teams - Open and Lightweight being the top classes, followed by VIP (over 40 years) and Enduro bikes and finally Supercup and teams with a mixture of bikes
With 85,000 baht to be shared amongst the top three teams in the Open category, there will be very intense competition at that level. Each rider must complete at least 30 minutes riding, but cannot ride for more than 60 minutes in one session. In total there is 340,000 baht in the prize pool.
Practice and qualifying is on Saturday 18 and the 8-Hour Enduro is on Sunday 19, commencing at 8 a.m. and running through till 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome!
