Season for butterflies
June to July is ideal time to visit Pang Sida National Park in Sa Kaeo, a popular place to observe butterflies. Also set aside a day or two to explore places of interest in the neighbourhood.
At the border of Thailand and Cambodia is the Rong Kluea flea market. On the way to the market is Sadok Kok Thom, a stone sanctuary full of ancient Khmer wisdom.
Not many tourists have heard of La-lu, a natural wonder and a miniature version of the Grand Canyon. Walking the expanse can be exhausting; best is to hire the local I-taek vehicle for a tour of the area.
Next head to Pang Sida to watch butterflies. For details on how to get to the park, call the Tourism Authority of Thailand office in Nakhon Nayok at 037-312-282 and 037-312-284.
The park is holding its annual Butterfly Watching Festival on June 9. It will also feature fun activities, paintings and games.
