Vaseline fun on Jomtien Beach!

The Vaseline Full Sun Double Fun Fair 2007 is coming to Jomtien Beach on 28th and 29th of this month between 9am and 8pm. This meeting at Pattaya City Hall chaired by Khun Somsak went through the fine details of the event which will include three zones of fun for those that attend. A Sea Zone, Beach Zone and Kids Zone will offer entertainment for all ages during the 2 day event. At this meeting concerns regarding traffic congestion during the event were raised and the Traffic Police will ensure that traffic flow is maintained. VASELINE JOINS 3 PARTNERS TO HOLD ‘VASELINE FULL SUN DOUBLE FUN FAIR’

The popular sand-and-sea amusement park is coming back this year under the new title “Vaseline Full Sun Double Fun Fair” offering double the fun of last year’s successful event, Vaseline Fun Sun Fun Fair. This year’s exciting event will be held by Vaseline, in conjunction with Pattaya City, Fitness First and A-Time Media, on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29, 2007 at Jomtien beach, Pattaya.

Vaseline, the body care expert from Unilever Thai Trading, welcomes the summer heat by organizing the “Vaseline Full Sun Double Fun Fair” at Jomtien beach, Pattaya. This event aims to offer double-the-fun to consumers while challenging them to prove the effectiveness of Vaseline Healthy Sun Block Lotion, which protects skin against the strong sunlight. Approximately, 80 million baht was set aside to implement this seasonal marketing campaign. The event is expected to attract over 20,000 participants and increase Vaseline Healthy Sun Block Lotion’s sales this summer.

According to Mrs. Pakachat Taychaburapanone, Market Development Director – Skin, Unilever Thai Trading Co., Ltd., The success of last year’s Vaseline Full Sun Fun Fair surpassed our expectations with 10,000 people joining the event. Vaseline Healthy Sun Block Lotion sales jumped 20% during that period. The great consumer feedback and many requests to add more fun activities and a bigger event that we received were key motivators for this year’s “Vaseline Full Sun Double Fun Fair”.

“This sea and sand amusement park is created to strengthen Vaseline’s positioning as the body care expert and challenge consumers to enjoy amusement rides and fun activities while proving Vaseline Healthy Sun Block’s effectiveness in strong sunlight. We have allocated 80 million baht to support this event,” said Mrs. Pakachat.

She added “We are confident that “Vaseline Full Sun Double Fun Fair” will paint this hot summer into a double-the-fun season remembered by consumers and their families while promoting Vaseline Healthy Sun Block as the first sun care brand of choice and receive even greater feedbacks than last summer.”

This year’s event doubles the fun and excitement by doubling the event space to over 15,000 square meters, doubling amusement rides and play stations while extend the event period to 2 days. It will be divided into three zones: Sea Zone, Beach Zone and Kids Zone with a variety of games including a giant 3-storey slider, jumbo-sized trampoline, twin banana boats in the sea as well as the food & drink stations. Consumers can enjoy live entertainment provided by A-Time Media DJs, innovative beach exercises by professional trainers from Fitness First and top band concerts including Potato, Buddha Bless, Showgirls and Peace Maker.

Well the Vaseline Fair on Jomtien Beach isn't going to be an anal love fest as some had hoped, but actually a vaseline sunscreen festival, so the odds are there are not going to be thousands of gay old men asking for free anal lube, yep it is aimed at families.

So today is the day before it starts so I went down there to take some pictures, just incase it was going to be an anal love fest, they have about 100 meters wide of beach so they aint expecting thousands of visitors.

They have quite a few fun bouncy things for children and childish adults, including castles and inflatable slides.

Although several million people visit Pattaya and Jomtien Beach every year the local council has seen no reason to build toilet facilities, not that it really matters I suppose cos you can always do it in the sea, and looking at the sea in Pattaya I assume just about every visitor must being doing that, luckily Jomtien is a bigger beach and less visited so there are less turds per cubic meter of water which makes it quite nice to have a paddle in, anyway Mr Vaseline has brought in his own toilets, at the moment they are closed and locked up, but maybe, just maybe they will open them for the fair, jees I wonder what state they will be in by Sunday afternoon

This surfing game seemed to be the best, trouble is they only let kids on it, probably for the best as my balancing is as good as my dancing, still would have given some of them a laugh, the machine is manualy controlled by a nasty evil Thai man who does his best to get them off as quick as possible, it was taking the kids longer to get the pads and safety gear on than they spent on the surf board.

The toilets are in use but I just didn't have the bottle to have a look in one, I reckon at this stage they must be pretty damn disgusting.



What did suprise me was the amount of police there, I can only assume they must be expecting Muslim insurgents to be planting bombs under the vaseline stands, they had normal police, city hall police, tourist police, volunteer police and probably plain clothes police, yep the security was tight to stop the terrorist plot to spread vaseline over the whole of Jomtien.

In the 2 pictures below you can see the entrance to the Vaseline event of the year, they got 3 police men there with metal detectors to check everybody going in, the only problem is that it is a beach, the event takes up about 100 meters or more, most people including any would be terrorists just walked onto the beach without even realising there was an entrance, hell the only reason I went to the entrance was because I saw it when I drove past and wanted to take a picture of the police there, I actually went out of my way to use the entrance, obviously my bumbag set off the metal detectors but he didn't bother asking to have a look.





The burst the balloon game was a bit boring, it's a 2 person competition to see who can pump up their balloon first, the winner got a lovely piece of cotton, trouble is as you can see in the video it is a set up, yep one of the hand pumps don't work, so if you got the left one and your mate has the other one you wanna put some money on winning this game.

Some of the stalls nobody was interested in, as you can see on this one they are asleep, now there must be hundreds of people passing it every hour but obviously they made a big mistake in what people would be interested in.




The Ball shooting game was packed, there were hundreds of little brats queing up to have a go, so I didn't get a go of that one

“VASELINE FULL SUN DOUBLE FUN FAIR” EXTRAVAGANZA ON JOMTIEN BEACH, PATTAYA

A double dose of high-spirited fun enthralled revellers for 2 days on Jomtien Beach, this last weekend. An amusement park and loads of activities attracted crowds of both Thais and foreigners; all of whom seemed to be having a spectacular time, a reflection of last year’s festivities.

On the 28th April 2007, at 10.30 am, well-known celebrities and the A-Time D.J. Team flocked to the beach, disregarding the full impact of the sun on “Vaseline Full Sun Double Fun Fair”. The long-waited festivities of the year was organized by the Uni-lever Team to magically transform Jomtien Beach into an arena for beauty addicts.

Despite drizzle in the morning, there was no dampening of spirits. The event was organized through the collaboration of Pattaya City Council, Pattaya Fitness First and A-Time Media. The fun started with a parade of the executive team of Vaseline, famous stars and well-known D.Js. Mr. Thavich Chai-sawangwong (President of Pattaya Council), Mrs. Wannipha Pakdeebutr (Vice-president of Uni-lever Thai Trading Co.Ltd.) jointly opened the fun fair by squeezing a large model bottle of “Vaseline Healthy Sun block Lotion” to blow bubbles into the air, the sign for the fair’s official opening.

At the fair, well-known people turned up, such as Tai-Nathaphol, Ta-Waritkomut, Na-kwan Rai-nanon, M.R.Suthipanee U-kon, Siri-orn Mamanee and Sunansa jiramaneekol, together with friends and family. They all shared in the “full fun” on the beach. This year, “the Vaseline Full Sun Double Fun Fair” was extended to two days, on a double-sized plot of 15,000 square meters.

The Double Fun was organized into 3 Zones: Zone C, Beach Zone and Kids Zone. Much of the play equipment was imported, like a 3 storey-high Giant Slider, a Jumbo Tambourine in the sea, and a Titanic and Twins banana boat, which can take up to 10 riders. The event also included entertainment from A-Time Media, led by a “babble” of D.Js: Mod-Dum, Dadar and Chao-Chao from E.F.M, An from Green Wave and Jenet and Krit from Hotwave.

There was also an exercise activity in the afternoon by a professional trainer from Fitness First, followed by a free concert in the evening on the 1st day by popular bands: Potato, Peace Maker, much to the excitement of the audience. And, on the 2nd day, Buddhapest Band and the 4 showgirls made for a blissed-out closing for this year’s extremely memorable fun fair.
