Pattaya Windsurfing Cup 2007
PATTAYA WINDSURFING CUP 2007 DELAYED DUE TO LACK OF WIND
Jomtien Beach is Thailand‘s No.1 centre for windsurfing. It is fitting, therefore, that it should have been the venue, starting on Saturday, for the Pattaya Windsurfing Cup 2007, with its 6 divisions of racing, which is part of the Thailand Windsurfing Championships.
The event was opened by Mr. Itipon, Adviser to the Mayor of Pattaya and was organised by the Windsurfing Association of Thailand. The remaining heats of the competition will occur in August and November.
However, due to conditions similar to the Doldrums, the wind failed to materialize, thus delaying the start of the competition. The competition should have got off to a better start as the period October to June are the best months for sailing, when ideal water and wind create the best conditions, but it just goes to show that the best laid plans don’t always materialise the way one expects.
