Loy Kratong. What are you doing tonite?

As the full moon of the twelfth lunar month (usually in mid-November) lights up the night sky, throughout the Thai kingdom, hundreds of thousands of ornately-decorated krathong or traditional banana leaf floats are set adrift on rivers and waterways in a spell-binding ritual called "Loi Krathong" - the 'festival of lights". This is one of the Kingdom's oldest and best-preserved traditions.

I reckon Poolie and marmite will be out shagging birds that they have known for mere minutes, me I shall take the galfriend out for a nice meal, then off down the beach to get annoyed with all the moronic locals throwing fireworks at each other and then back home to give her a good seeing to, although she may have bought me a present this year, this nice cute looking young lady was in my kitchen this afternoon washing up and she is still here downstairs

Well, at school we made kratongs and did da Thai stuff. Now dis evening me wife wants to take da duaghter and send our kratongs skimming across the lake.

i hope that the wife takes my special styrofoam, nondegradable, plastic lined, metal-coined filled (3 bath), full of nails homemaid, handmade Kratong with her.

Just returned from a starry night down at the riverside in Chiangmai.
Absolutely beautiful it was.

For anyone who's never experienced a cm loi kratong, it's indescribable. Like a war zone. Kids letting off big booming rockets, no safety zones. 10,s of thousands of madmen. sky lit up like the blazes.
It's not raining either.

So how was the massage, Pooly?

If anyone wants a really nice place to take their missus to, there's a place on the corner of Suk Soi 33 (top of soi away from Sukhumvit). They have a private room with two massage benches, a nice shower and everything you need for a romantic couple of hours. It's only 300B/hour for 'aroma oil'. Well worth it.

Went down to the river last night. The street were all closed. there was crush of folks every where. Folks on the street selling bottle rockets, piccolo petes, mortars and bombs. Bright explosions, loud explosions and BBQ'd dead creatures on a stick. Got to thinking how it resembled some kind of Hollywood acid trip as I found my way to the bears den; then it got weirdo. The place was packed a group of about 40 - 50 drunken Ozzies with their wives girlfriends and not a few bar-girls. Some sort of convention I guess. Sat at the bar listening to some short, fat and balding Ozzie berating the bar maid for delivering a schooner of Heineken filled a almost half inch from the top "Don't do it again" he threatened. Ozzies are great folks but don't short their beer.
I had my first pint of OSH and left.

yes it is great. Some tourist actually got killed last yar by a misfired bomb, just about blew his head off

but this year I am expat in KL, so missed it. They have a Loy Kratong at the Thai temple moved to Saturday!!wtf -so people can go as they may be working. Most of the Thais here work in bars anyway, from what I can see.

Not bad. I prefer a bit more body & hopps.
They served it to me, ice cold, in a chilled pint glass and I was disappointed with the flavor at first sip; it seemed to develop as the temperature increased. I could quaff a few; but @ 180 baht per?
I asked if it was a special Loi kratong price. The barmaid explained; "Normal price. We're the only folks that have it, so, we charge up the whazoo" (sounds nicer in Thai)

anyway getting back on subject, last nite she who knows best decided we had to goto Wat Yang, this is like 20km away as opposed to the beach which is 500 meters away, anyway I nearly fell in the poxy lake, then my galfriend pulled my shorts down when she grabbed me when she nearly fell in the lake, those gals love to see some white ass dont they
