Naklua to get Pier and Light House

Not to mention a lighthouse City fathers have agreed in principle to spend 4.3 million baht on the construction of a second pier in the Pattaya area.
It will be built of concrete and steel in central Naklua close to the area with the famous tree in the middle of the road. PTE Engineering Limited will carry out the work, subject to approval of the detail by the transport and environmental departments. The local authority is confident that the new facility, 4 metres wide and 500 metres long, will be able to accommodate up to 40 fishing vessels which currently have to use several shoddy landing areas down the coast. The pier will also have a lighthouse to illuminate the proceedings. The proposed facility will also be adjacent to the new market which is expected to become famous for cheap and fresh sea food. A public garden and an OTOP centre will be further attractions in the ever improving Naklua town centre.

Naklua Pier design will be ready by end of March

Naklua Pier design will be ready by end of March

    Narisa Nitikarn
A pier that would act as part of the new sea defenses scheme at Naklua and would also be a new tourism attraction is currently being designed and will be unveiled for discussion next month.
Permanent secretary of Pattaya City Sittiprap Muangkoom presented details of the project on February 2, at a meeting attended by councilors from Region 1, Pichet Uthaivatanon, director of the technical office at Pattaya City Hall, and representatives of PTE Engineering and Consultants Ltd, who are undertaking the survey and design work.
PTE’s Osatee Ruangsawang said the project consists of three key elements. A reinforced concrete area of some 4,800 square meters in area would form a sea wall and provide recreational space, while a pier of 600 meters in length would be built at the mouth of the Naklua canal and serve fishermen and boat users. There would be another reinforced concrete area at the canal entrance, 3,600 meters in area.
The three designs would be finished by the end of March when the documents would be submitted to the Water Transportation Department and the Marine Department for a construction permit.
Sittiprap said the three elements of the project would each take a considerable time to build and it was desirable to complete one before beginning the next one. He suggested the reinforcements at Lanpho should be the first stage.

There is a company here that have been making noises about running a ferry service between Hua Hin and Pattaya and I have heard other rumours about a pier being prepared between HH and Cha Am.

    Meeting for Naklua Pier Development.

On Friday afternoon a meeting was held at Pattaya City Hall between representatives of PTE Engineering & Consulting and Khun Sittiparp, a senior local government official and his officers, to discuss the allocation of monies for a project to be undertaken in Naklua.
A budget of 120 million baht has been allocated for the construction of Pier and a watchtower and other facilities on two rai of land in Lan Po, Naklua. The aim of the construction of the pier and its attendant facilities is to promote further tourism in the Naklua area.
At the meeting discussion centred around the design and size of the pier and watchtower.
As this was only the first meeting to talk about this project, we can expect further meetings to take place over the coming months as the idea takes shape.
