    Hin Suay Namsai Resort ...Rayong

At the end of the rainy season , on the way back from Cambodia we decided to stay at Mae Pim beach for a short break. Driving around we came to the Hinsuay Nam Sai Resort hotel. The place has seen better days and is a bit fly blown but the rooms have fantastic views of the sea and there are also bungalows to rent, right near the hotels own private little cove.

The first rooms we were shown were 10 yards from the private beach in a small block overlooking the sea and the gardens.

These rooms were nothing special but they were the cheapest and were on promotion at 1400 a night instead of the usual 1600 - 2000. Where they scored was what was outside the the block.

However we were looking for something a bit different and more cosy so we opted for this one bedroomed bungalow , also on promotion at 1400.

Which comes with a fully equiped kitchen including pots and pans, electric kettle ,
    plates and cuttlery .

Then there is the bedroom come living room.

And if you're too lazy to walk down to the beach theres the very crowded pool just outside the door :

Views across the bay are not too bad either .

I should say that if you're looking for vibrant night life, forget it. Mae Pim beach is a short 4 kilometre drive away with plenty of restaurants but generaly quiet midweek and lots of locals on the weekend. If you're looking for romantic solitude where you can cook your own supper whilst enjoying the view and a bottle of wine...hard to beat.

    For booking the bungalows :

Yeah, it does look great - good prices too.

Sorry for my ignorance, but where is it? You said on the way back from Cambo, so it between Trat and Chantaburi? How long would the drive be from Bkk?

Rayong....just past Mae Pim beach , about a 3 and a half hour drive from Bangkok. Like most places down the east coast, quiet mid week, busy on weekends. There's a link at the bottom with pictures of the other bungalows for rent or you can stay in the main block up on the cliff.

Did you notice if there were some A-frame type bungalows built right over the water? I have not been there for about 30 years and they were a shop-worn then but a nice play to stay.

Can't say I did but we were only there for a couple of nights and its a huge complex so we didn't have time to explore it all.

Thanks for the reminder on this place Banyai. I drove past it while still dating the wife. So that has to be 20 years.

Think I might take her back at Songkran. The kids are off early on the 12 of April for 3 weeks in the states. So from swampy to there would be an easy drive. Pick up some wine and margarita mix here, stop and get the fresh seafood there. Kick back eat drink and be merry instead of hiding in my house during the drenchings. Would be the first time away without the kids ever. Maybe I might even get lucky if I play my cards right.

Hope you're a better player than me. Last time I played strip poker with 3 other people I ended up sitting naked holding nothing but a jack high

I should say that if anyone wants to go down with friends they have bigger houses for rent like this :

    House Type C 70

    House type C 70 : 3 bedrooms and 3 Bathrooms for 8 Person

    Room rate : 4,600 Bath

Saw the bigger ones as well. Might do the 4 person place if and when the kids want to go. As for the sea they are a bit spoiled after boogy boarding and body surfing Kata here on Phuket, and then Kuta, and Legian on Bali.

I always wonder why people go to the beach and don't even sleep in a bungalow on the beach ?

If it is to have anything between my room and the sea i don't need to move, i have the same view at home :-)
