Mae Pim Beach Resort review
End of October and with another visa run to Cambodia done, we decided to stay at Mae Pim Beach for a break on the way back to Bangkok.
On arrival on a Saturday afternoon we were surprised how quiet and tranquil the beach was compared to Pattaya just around the coastline.

After checking a few places out, we decided the best value was at the most expensive place on the beach , the ' Mae Pim Resort Hotel ' at 1400 a night for a sea view room including breakfast for two. We had looked at other places at 700 and 900 but they were both a bit drab and lacking in basic maintenance.

Out the back of the hotel they are building a condo complex and swimming pool but so far only the pilings have gone in and construction seems to have ground to a halt. Didn't bother us as we had a sea view . Well, almost as trees blocked the view a bit . The room was well equiped and super clean and there was a seperate shower cubicle in the bathroom so no wet bathroom floor all the time. The Television was very basic though with only a couple of extra channels on top of the 3 through 9 offerings.

All around the hotel, plenty of places to enjoy a drink and chill out after the long drive.

And just across the road was the very nice beach.

Mind you, considering the scarcity of tourists they were a bit heavy handed with the deckchairs. Could have put away 75% of them and still had plenty of choice.

To get away from them you can either hire a bike or scooter or just take a 1 K stroll further up the beach where its much nicer.

As for nightlife. Absolutely non existant. So its a case of finding a place to eat and then making your own entertainment. We tried two eateries selling seafood just 50 metres down from the hotel. The seafood was fresh, the portions very large and the taste in both....very bland and disappointing. Get better seafood back home in Bangyai from almost anywhere. Too much suger used was the gf's opinion. In any event....neither place was packed with customers.

The free breakfast at the hotel was very good though, with eggs done anyway you liked and cooked to order. I don't usually like Khao Dtom but even that was so nice we had to have a bowl. Top marks all around.

Heading back to Bangkok we had a quick look around the headland where jut 10k away there is a mangrove walk ( not visited yet but will check it out mid November ) and a nice headland park where there is a warship you can visit. Unfortunately, this was not accesible from the viewpoint so we plan to see it next visit when we"ll have more time.
