| The Dog | Golden Beach or Hat Sai Torng is about 15km from Pattaya, it's the next beach along from the the Ambassador hotel where for the last 15 years rumours have been going around that this will be the first casino in Thailand, these rumours I might add were started by Indians who knew of people willing to sell land near there very cheaply anyway 15 years on and this may actually become reality, every month now in the papers there are talks of opening casinos. Looking at the the Ambassador it does seem to have a hell of a lot of wasted floor space and would probably make a good casino, anyway let's get back to golden beach. Well after a nice picture of the hotel with 5000 rooms that they aint even bothered painting the outside of yet. Pattaya Restaurant Guide ![]() of course on seeing their prices most ppl wont stay there Golden beach is actually quite classy, I normally go there for the Indian food restaurant, but they do have this really classy place on the beach that does international food, it also does great cocktails, which aint a good idea if your driving as I have found out, infact I think I shall go there this weekend |

| The Dog | This place is actually on the beach and is pretty damn classy, I have eaten here before and it is very good but last night was curry night so we just stopped for pre dinner drinks. I ordered the old long island tea and my galfriend and son had the coconut juice, at 330baht for 3 drinks it is a bit pricey, but hell you don't need too many of those long islands to get totally smashed out of your head. The menu is international and the main dishes start at about 160baht per dish, so by Pattaya standards it is pretty expensive. They have the normal security guard to help you park, only trouble is he only does that if you have a nice car, if I go in my old truck he pretends I dont exist, he is obviously prejudiced against poor people, the illusion of wealth by driving a nice car in Thailand is great My Long Island Tea Their menu Part of the outside dining area next to the beach. The inside open dining area, This place is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Actually so is the Ambassador hotel as they have a load of avarys with macaws in. | The Dog | I was bored today so I was going to goto Nong Noch Village, enjoy some Thai culture and all that stuff, but then I got this urge, yep the urge for a cocktail, well the best place I know for cocktails that allow people in the way I dress is down at golden beach, The Sea Falcon Restaurant, funny these urges you get to drive 15-20 kms just for a cocktail, anyway I drove thru Jomtien just to take some pictures so the journey wasn't wasted, it is quite nice there in the afternoons and totally deserted, well apart from 2 barstaff and 2 tourists laying on the beach. |

| The Dog | They are normally a bit slow on making the old cocktails, reckon on about a 10 minute wait, so I ordered my beer and margarita at the same time, I got to admit the margarita was the same as I made them, yep they used the crappy lime cordial that I use, still it was nice there, nice cooling sea breeze and the beer was nice and cold. |

| The Dog | The beach during the day is absolutely empty, well apart from these 2 cnuts it would have been, they have a big hotel at the end of the road but the tourist that stay there only venture out in the evenings, probably cos the evening meals are not included in the hotel price. |

| The Dog | Hat Sai Torng is almost an Island apart from that it is connected to the mainland by land, well, let's try to explain this a bit better, they have the Royal Varuna Yacht Club there, and what seperates the socially elite with the scummy fisherman is a little river, and yep the elite and the scum both use this river, I wonder what they think of each other? |

| Most of my life i've enjoyed fuckin' around in Boats. And scummy waterfront just like these were my favorite places to dock for few. They always look their scummy best at low tide too. Great pictures Dog, makes me think twice about livin' this far from the ocean. |

| Senior Member | ^ yes. well 2 bits of land. the site between Jomtien and pattaya near cosy beach - is leased only - so a number of years ago we bought the 'newlands' miles further down the coast - but distance and lack of amenities aside the winds are not as reliable down there, so then the proposal was to rent the newlands...... who rents vacant land miles from anywhere..... so now we gonna sell it ..... =white elephant. Are you a member of RVYC then ? perhaps i've seen u done there? Last edited by kingwilly : 31-05-2006 at 12:17 PM. |

| Elite Member | Not a member, but they dont seem to mind when I visit. I want to buy a hobie cat and teach my kids to sail. The day we were there was a sunday morning and a big electric storm was moving in from Sri Racha. You should have seen the farung parents yelling for their kids to get back in, they were out in what looked like little skiffs. I helped to get them into shore. Quite exciting and fun. What are the dues mate, and how much to join. |

| Senior Member | i think this is current info.....the website would have up to date details...... the worst bit is the initial fee application fee 60K monthly fees thereafter 2.3K plus boat fees if appl. food and drink if appl. accomadation if appl. but it has reciprocal rights all over world including royal hong kong yacht club - very swish. i'd be happy to nominate u as a member if u wish. |

| DD, please let me know how to get to Golden Beach. (from Pattaya) I've been to pattaya a few times on holiday but dont really know the surrounding areas. It seems that it might be cleaner to swim at. |

| The Dog | Sea Falcon also has a restaurant in Jomtien But I haven't been to the one in Jomtien, so yesterday it was back to the Hat Sai Torng Sea Falcon Restaurant, aint got no pictures of the poofy drinks as chitown was there and I didn't want to embarrass myself, anyway the view from our table of the table that I would normally sit at. Further down the road on Golden Beach is The Pinnacle, they have a sea sports club, they also do kite boarding, now the winds here are real strong and the sea pretty rough so I should imagine it is good fun, a couple of pictures of the kite boarders.
