    Bang Saen Beach - Chonburi

Another nice beach resort a mere 45km away from Pattaya, actually all these small beach resorts are pretty much the same, ie cheap open air sea food restaurants and loads of thais at the weekends.

They got like one classy hotel and maybe some crappy rooms at other places, anyway here's the nice hotel.

Bang Saen’s latest and luxurious hotel is The Tide Resort. The hotel has an enviable setting in landscaped gardens, only a few meters away from Bang Saen’s famous beach. It is centrally positioned on the lively promenade and accessible to all of Bang Saen’s major attractions.

This elegant modern building houses 154 luxurious rooms, a pleasantly shaded swimming pool and a fine restaurant serving international cuisine. The welcoming staff attend to guests’ every need with the traditional hospitality for which Thailand has become famous the world over. The Tide Resort is the perfect gateway destination, for tourists and locals alike.
now that seems quite nice, wait till you see the prices though

yep you guessed it, it's another fishing village.

here's a nice site about local beach resorts near to Pattaya

A well-known holiday beach, Bang Saen is only 14 kilometres from the provincial town. From Sukhumvit Road, take a right turn at Km. 104 and proceed on for another 3 kilometres to get there. Bang Saen is widely popular with Thai holiday-makers who happily romp along the long beach and partake in the tasty food available. Weekends are particularly crowded while it is relatively quiet during weekdays. Fronting the beach are hotels, bungalows, foodshops as well as recreational gears and bicycles for rent.

Getting There: Bus services are available from Bangkok’s Ekkamai Bus Terminal throughout the day. There are also local “Song Thaeo” transports serving Chon Buri town-Nong Mon Market-Bang Saen.

I really don't know why they call this a mountain as i have seen bigger hill's in norfolk for foks sake, anyway if you wanna see 100s of monkeys and feed the rabid buggers this is the place to come.

Anyway next stop was the beach, yep it was still a beach the same as the last time i went, obviously the tsunami didn't cause too much damage there, all the beach vendors were still there selling all the crap that is normally sold on commercial Thai beaches, yep you guessed it, bbq bird flu chicken.

And of course there is the usual welcomeing sign as you drive up to the beach, although the place was packed with ppl from bkk, it would probably be a nice place to visit during the week.
